Suzuki to invest 70,000 rupees in India over 6 years to provide EV and export ambitions

Suzuki Motor Corporation will invest 70,000 rupees in India for the next 5-6 years, which represents its greatest commitment ever in the country and its place as a global center for electric cars and clean mobility.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Suzuki Motor, Toshihero Suzuki, informed E-Vitara-the first global electric vehicle in Suzuki (Bev)-at the company’s Hansalpur factory in Ahmedabad, indicating new cooperation in India in India.

Investment will be published through manufacturing, research, development and sustainability initiatives. 32,000 rupees are allocated to expand production capacity to one million units annually. The last 23,240 rupees will finance the development of new models, including four Bevs by 2030, starting with E-Vittar. 15,000 rupees will support the neutral initiatives of carbon and manufacturing quality.

The company said: “Suzuki’s commitment to localization of more than 80 % of the EV battery value will significantly reduce the adoption of the import of India.” The manufacture of batteries is essential to Suzuki’s plan to put India as an EV export base for more than 100 countries, including Japan and Europe.

Besides electric cars, Suzuki’s road map includes the expansion of its hybrid and CNG shows and the launch of the vital gas project using livestock waste for renewable fuel – an initiative that is in line with clean energy goals in India with support of rural economies.

Maruti Suzuki, the Indian Suzuki arm, aims to three times its exports to 7.5 cob units annually by 2030-31. The company is already contributing 40 % of the total exports of passenger vehicles in India, and the company is strongly expanding to new markets as part of the government “Make In India” program.

By 2030, Suzuki-Maruti plans to gain a 50 % market share in India and lead the EV space in manufacturing, sales and global distribution. “India is not just a manufacturing base – it’s our strategic growth engine,” said Toshheiro Suzuki.
