Comedian taunts Gen Z over wedding budget of Rs 6 crore, says ‘he will retire and move to mountains’

Amid rising costs of living, inflation and widespread job cuts, extravagant weddings may seem out of reach for most people. However, Generation Z seems to belong to a completely different category. A recent video showed young men nonchalantly discussing wedding budgets ranging from Rs 2 to Rs 6 crore. The clip quickly caught the attention of comedian Rohit Shah, who poked fun at their lofty expectations.

Shah quipped that if he had Rs 6 crore, he would retire and live a quiet life in the mountains. He even joked that these videos might be a clever ploy by the tax department to uncover parents hiding unaccounted wealth.

In his response to the video on Instagram, Shah said: “I have no idea why these Gen Z people are so delusional, casually thinking of a wedding budget of Rs 6 crore. For me, Rs 6 crore is my lifetime budget. If someone gives me Rs 6 crore, I will retire,” he said. And I move to the mountains, open a café and spend my days playing cricket. These people casually say ‘crore rupees’ as if it’s nothing, while we millennials double-check Uber and Ola prices before booking a cab and call it a day. “By taking the train to wherever we want to go.”

“I feel like the Income Tax Department has planted undercover agents asking these kids about their wedding budgets just to track down their parents’ tax details and get them arrested for tax evasion. Then their parents will fall into crisis and it will take Generation Z forever to sort things out. So I’m telling you, stop it.” Delusional behavior Rohit Shah added: “If anyone asks you about your wedding budget, just say it is 1.50 lakh and tell them that you will order food from Shiv Sagar and Paneer Butter. Masala for everyone.”

Responding to the post, a user wrote: “Rs 3-4 crore main toh mera pura mohola shaadi karl. (With Rs 3-4 crore, the entire neighborhood will be able to get married).”

One user commented humorously, “A café on the mountain and growing vegetables is every 90s baby’s plan, I think.” (Opening a café in the hills and growing your own vegetables is every ’90s kid’s dream.)

Another pointed out the practicality of using such a budget wisely, commenting: “With Rs 3-4 crore, you can buy a good apartment instead of spending on an expensive wedding.”

Another person speculated on the confusion behind these exaggerated claims, writing, “They may have confused themselves by seeing cr. to crore in their passbook. Please explain to them cr. in passbook stands for credit.”

One Gen Z respondent distanced themselves from the allegations, humorously saying: “As Gen Z, we don’t demand them.”
