The United States and the European Union embody commercial obligations under a new framework deal

The United States will impose a 15 % tariff on European car imports, pharmaceutical preparations and other products, according to a joint statement announced by the Trump and European Union administration on Thursday.

The agreement also calls for the 27 -member European Union to eliminate definitions on all American industrial exports and provide favorite terms for some seafood and agricultural products, while the United States will reduce definitions accordingly.

The United States has pledged to reduce import duties on most European goods, including cars, which dig semiconductor, to no more than 15 %, pending additional legislative procedures by the European Union.

The agreement also covers $ 750 billion of energy purchases and $ 600 billion in European Union investments by 2028.

“This framework is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to trade and fair, balanced and beneficial investment for both parties,” the White House and the European Union said in a joint statement. “This framework agreement will put our trade and investment relationship – one of the largest relations in the world – in full swing and will activate the promotion of our economies.”

In July, President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Lyen gathered in a short period at Trump Turnberry Golf Stadium in Scotland and announced a comprehensive trade deal that imposes a 15 % tariff on most European commodities, and avoid Trump’s threat at a rate of 30 % if a deal is not reached by August 1.

“This is a dangerous strategic deal – and we are completely behind it. A wide range of sectors, including strategic industries such as cars, medicines, semi -conductors, and wood, will benefit,” said European Union Trade Commissioner Marus Sevkovic.

Together, the United States and the European Union account for 44 % of the global economy.
