Police in Brazil accused former President Gere Bolsonaro, 70, and his 41 -year -old son Eduardo of obstructing justice.
They claim that the two attempted to interfere in the current trial against Elder Bolsonaro, as he was accused of making a coup attempt after his defeat in the 2022 presidential elections.
Police says they have found a document on the Jair Bolsonaro mobile phone, which indicates that it intends to evade criminal procedures by searching for asylum in Argentina.
They also accuse Eduardo Bolsonaro of pressure on the Trump administration on behalf of his father – who says he has imposed a punitive tariff on Brazilian goods.
The 170 -page police report comes less than two weeks before the final stage of the coup trial and photographing more pressure on the former leader.
Jair Bolsonaro denies conspiring to cancel his 2022 election loss to his leftist opponent, Luiz Inácio LULA DA Silva.
But he questioned the fairness of the procedures against him, claiming that he was the goal of “chasing the political charming.”
He told Reuters last month that he “undoubtedly” the five Supreme Court judges assigned to submit the ruling have already decided to be convicted.
But at the time, he denied that he had made plans to try to evade the trial.
“I have never thought about leaving the country,” he told Reuters.
But in their report submitted on Wednesday, the police say that they had found a draft speech on the mobile Jair Bolsonaro phone asking for political asylum in Argentina.
The 33 -page message was sent directly to Argentine President Javier Millie, according to the report. Millie condemned the “persecution” of Polasonaro and seen as a political ally of the former leader.
The message is not dated, but the police say that it was last amended on the phone in February 2024, shortly after Bolsonaro was forced to deliver his passport to the police.
It is not clear whether the draft had been sent at all and the Argentine government source told Reuters that the Argentine President’s office had not received a letter from Bolsonaro.
But the police argue that a draft exposure to Bolsonaro’s intention to evade justice.
Alexander de Morais, the judge who supervises the trial of Bolsonaro, gave the lawyers of the former president 48 hours to submit an explanation for the alleged asylum request.
Jair Bolsonaro is currently the arrest of the house and is already prevented from publishing on social media and from calling his son Eduardo to violate the restrictions of the court.
The report also accuses Eduardo Bolsonaro of trying to influence his father’s trial by pressuring the Trump administration to pressure the Brazilian government and the Supreme Court.
In July, Trump announced that he would do the definitions of Brazilian imports to 50 %, citing Brazil’s treatment of Bolsonaro as a height operator.
In addition, the US State Department prevented eight judges in the Brazilian Supreme Court – including Alexander de Morais – from traveling to the United States.
Eduardo Bolsonaro, who was in the United States nearly six months ago, moved to social media on Wednesday to reject allegations against him.
He said that his actions in the United States were never aimed at influencing any continuous measures in Brazil and that his goal was to “restore individual freedoms in the country.”
