LG G5 OLED TV increases brightness to a higher level
This new high-end TV looks like an early contender for best picture quality of 2025.
Hey guys, I value picture quality a lot, and this TV right here might have the best picture quality I’ve ever seen. This is the LG G5. Now I didn’t have much time to see it. It’s a brand new TV, but this OLED TV looks great from what I’ve seen. So the big difference between the G5 and G4 from last year is brightness. LG said it has improved the brightness level by 40%. Now I will be able to test this later. I’ll have to take my word for it now, but looking at it here at LG. The test set, it looks really bright and of course the effect with the brightness mix with the black levels of the OLED, so the blacks of the screen are really very dark even in a room with high ambient light. Now this is very important. This isn’t the brightest room, but there’s some light in here and I can see that the black levels are maintained even though there’s some light in the room and you get a really nice mix of contrast because of the better black levels and again they say they’re better than last year at. By rejecting this ambient light and maintaining such excellent contrast, I was able to take a quick look at the image quality on the G5, and I have to say it’s really impressive from what I saw. Now this is not a real side-by-side comparison with its competitors. It’s one look at me on TV, but it’s really bright. I was watching in Vivid mode, which is the brightest picture quality mode. The more refined Cinema modes will be somewhat less bright, but overall, they seem to live up to the improved brightness and of course excellent blacks. Levels. I’m so excited about all of it. They have also added a 165Hz refresh rate which may bring some improvement in gaming. But in short, it’s very similar to the G4 from last year, except for improved brightness and rejection of ambient light inside the room. This TV is now available in sizes from 55 to 97 inches, but only the 83-inch, 77-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch sizes maintain all of these picture quality benefits. It’s going to be expensive, and prices haven’t been announced yet. This year, so we’ll see how it tests against the best OLED TVs available later this year. So, this isn’t the only TV I’ve tried here at LG. They also have their transparent TV from last year. It’s now on the market for about $60,000, so pull out your wallet. This is this really cool technology that can go from being completely visible to wrapping a little panel of black to make it look like a regular TV, like the first really designed TV. The technology is still amazing, however. Incredibly expensive. They also have their M5 series, which is their own wireless display technology, so they say the picture quality is exactly the same as the G. They’ll be more expensive, of course, because they use a separate box to send signals from your game console, your cable box, or whatever else is connected to your TV wirelessly. So they improved that wireless technology a little bit. They say that you can now put this box in a safe, which is great as long as there isn’t any metal in the safe, and this will allow the transfer to be made between the box and. The TV again looks exactly like the HDMI cable from the demo they set up here. Too cool for that. LG is also announcing the C5 series of OLED TVs. This was my favorite high-end TV for the money last year, and it’s very similar to the 2024 model, although they say just like the G, it’s a little brighter, so we’ll check that out as well. It is also available in a wider range of screen sizes. There are a lot of LG OLED TVs here at CES 2025. I can’t wait to check them out later this year.
