
The Prime Minister in the country has warned that Spain is at risk of new forest fires, as firefighters continue to fight 14 major fire.
In a post on X, Pedro Sanchez said that Friday’s conditions are expected to be “very difficult again” as a drawing of the AEMET of the extreme firefighting risk in the north and west of the country.
It is expected that the temperatures will reach 40 ° C on the northern Spanish coast, after the fire destroyed more than 1500 square kilometers (579 square miles) and seven people died.

In Galicia, several fires merged to form a large fire, forcing the closure of highways and railway services in the region.
Avincis, the largest emergency air services operator in Europe, said it recorded a 50 % increase from last year in flight hours for fire control operations in Spain and Portugal so far this season.
AEMET expects the thermal wave to continue until Monday, with temperatures up to 44 ° C in some areas, as well as moderate winds.

Forest fires are common throughout southern Europe in the summer, but their severity is often aggravated due to heat wave conditions.

Spain is the fifth European nation that requires help in fighting forest fires. In Greece, the Earth burned 100 square kilometers (38 square miles) from Earth since Tuesday.

On Friday, firefighters were still dealing with an active front on the Greek island of Xius, three days after the fire began, with reform teams warning that it might take more than a week to restore the damaged infrastructure. A large part of the island remains without electricity, as some water supply problems were reported in certain areas.
A very high risk was released in the Hashim on Friday for Attica, Peloponnese, Central Greece, Thessaly, Central, East Macedonia and Watching, as well as North and South Aegean Sea, according to the Civil Protection Agency in Greece.
Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Albania also activated the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union, which allows any country to strike a disaster – in Europe and beyond – to request emergency assistance.
