Enzo Maresca urged Chelsea to sign a new cannon after Levi Colwell’s long -term injury.
England has suffered from ACL tear and is scheduled to miss most of the 2025-26 season.
Although there are many players in books, the main coach has publicly announced that he wants to get a new face across the door to cover the lost central back.
Speaking during his press conference before the match, Marisca said: “We know how important Levy is for us last season and the way we want to play.
“We are able to create opportunities in the attack if we can build the right way and Levi is a large part of it. Now he will try to find a different solution.
“We are trying to find an internal solution, but the club knows exactly what I think – we need a central defender – but we are looking internally.”
“When we build, we build with Levy in the middle. Last year, we played 64 games and played 64 games with Levy and Tusin (Adarabio). Now Levy is outside, the first to be able to do this job well is Tussin.
“We have the Premier League and Champions League. This type of players, the rest can adapt. Our (Jordan) Hato, but he never played as a man in the middle of last season. It is not a matter of central defenders. Yes, he is a central defender, but what should he do? Can he do that?

Chelsea set out their campaign at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, as they are looking to build the victory of the World Cup in the club this summer.
