British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer welcomed the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy To London on Thursday, a day before the United States of Russia Summit in Alaska.
“Yesterday, with all partners, today with a bilateral coordination, we discussed expectations from the meeting in Alaska and possible prospects,” Zelinski said in a post on social media after the meeting. “We also discussed security guarantees in detail that could make peace really sustainable if the United States is still able to pressure Russia to stop the killings and participate in a real meaningful diplomacy. It is important that we all can work together within an alliance of those who want to achieve effective formats for security work.”
Zelinski’s trip to the British capital came a day after he participated in virtual meetings from Berlin with President Donald Trump and the leaders of many European countries. These leaders said that Trump assured them that he would make the priority of an attempt to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in Ancorag.
Putin was holding a meeting in Russia on Thursday with members of Russia’s leadership to prepare for the Alaska meeting. As part of this preparatory meeting, he said he wanted to discuss the negotiation process with Ukraine and how things are going.
Putin also said that he plans to “talk about the stage we face with the current American administration, which, as everyone knows, makes, in my opinion, very active and honest efforts to stop the fighting, stop the crisis and reach the importance of all parties participating in this conflict.”
The Kremlin Assistant Yuri Ushakov said on Thursday that the Friday meeting between Mr. Trump and Putin in Alaska is expected to start at approximately 11:30 am local time on Friday. The main topic will be War in UkraineBut there will also be discussions on economic cooperation between Washington and Moscow.
He said that the meeting will be held at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base base, and there will first be an individual meeting between the two leaders before their delegations joined.
Oshkov said that Mr. Trump and Putin will say a few words at the beginning of the meeting, and will hold a joint press conference after that.

Alaska summit “very important”
Zelinski and the Europeans were concerned that the United States’ Bilateral Summit Russia would leave them and their interests cheerful, and that any conclusions reached can prefer Moscow and leave future security for Ukraine and Europe in danger.
However, some of these leaders, such as German Chancellor Friedrich Mirz and French President Emmanuel Macron, praised the video conference on Wednesday with Trump as a building.
Speaking after the correspondents’ meetings, Trump warned of “very serious consequences” for Russia if Putin did not agree to stop the war against Ukraine after a Friday meeting.
Starmer said on Wednesday that the Alaska summit will be “very important” and could be a “applicable” road to the ceasefire in Ukraine. But he also alluded to European fears that Trump might force Ukraine to waive lands to Russia, and warned that Western allies should be ready to pressure Russia if necessary.
Stansal legs
During a call on Wednesday between the leaders of the countries involved in the “coalition from those who wish” – those who are ready to help any future peace agreement between Moscow and Kiev – stressed that any deal that has reached a somewhat fighting situation must protect “regional integrity” of Ukraine.
He said: “The international borders cannot be, and they should not be changed by force. Any talk about the borders, diplomacy and the ceasefire must sit alongside a strong and reliable security guarantee to ensure that any peace, if there is peace, can defend permanent peace, and Ukran can defend his regional integration as part of any deal.”
Kiev has long insisted that the guarantees against the future Russian attacks provided by its Western allies will be a prerequisite for achieving a solid end to fight in Ukraine. However, many Western governments have been reluctant to commit to the involvement of their military personnel.
The two countries in the “Al -Raghbah coalition”, which includes France and the United Kingdom, were trying for several months to secure US security support if this happened. After the virtual meetings on Wednesday, Macron said that Trump told the collected leaders that although the NATO military alliance should not be part of future security guarantees, the American leader agreed that “the United States and all the concerned parties must participate.”
“It is a very important clarification we received,” Macron said.
European Council President Antonio Costa also welcomed “the United States’s willingness to participate with Europe efforts to enhance security conditions as soon as we have a solid and fair peace for Ukraine.”
“I don’t see any changes coming.”
With another high -level meeting on the future of their country on the horizon, some Ukrainians expressed doubts that any breakthroughs that will be achieved during the American Russia summit on Friday.
Olksandra Cozlova, 39, a head of a digital agency in Kiev, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that it believed that the Ukrainians “have already hoped” that it could be made beneficial to end the third war of 1/2 years old.
“I don’t think this tour will be decisive,” she said. “There were already sufficient meetings and negotiations, and our ordinary people, that there will be something that will be solved, and that things will improve, and that the war will end. Unfortunately, this did not happen, so I personally do not see any changes coming.”
Anton Fishnak, a car seller in Kiev, said that Ukraine’s priority should now save the lives of military service men, even at the expense of making regional concessions.
“At the present time, the most important thing is to preserve the lives of male and female military individuals. After all, many human resources remain,” he said. “The borders are limits, but human life is invaluable. Therefore, some principles can be ignored here.”
