MONARCH tractors will not be built by Foxconn after selling Ohio Factory

Foxconn will not build electric tractors for the Monarch Startup tractor in California after the Taiwanese technology giant recently sold Ohio to Softbank.

Monarch Penmetsa CEO of Monarch Penmetsa confirmed the news in LinkedIn comment Tuesday. He also said that his company worked with Foxconn to “build inventory” before selling the factory, noting that the start of his operation “is sufficient to meet customer request for 12 months, along with wide spare parts.”

“In the coming weeks, we will share more about our plans to provide more products that support Monarch in the market through new manufacturing partnerships,” Penmetsa Books.

After selling, Softbank is expected to work with Foxconn to use the factory to make equipment for the Stargate AI project led by Openai and Oracle.

Foxconn bought the former General Motors factory from EV Startup Lordstow Motors in 2022. Young Leo, President of Foxconn, said before the sale was closed that the facility will be “the most important manufacture of electric vehicles and the research and development center in North America.”

Monarch was one of the four promotions of Foxconn as customers (or potential customers) for the process of manufacturing electric car contracts that it tried to establish in the former General Motors factory. Foxconn has built a few hundred tractors for the monoca in the factory, but the young woman has struggled.
