European Union leaders appealed to Tuesday President Trump To defend their security interests at a major summit with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, later this week about the war in Ukraine.
Putin seems to be about to make the main regional seizure on Friday summitIt is possible that the financial lever is used in any peace negotiations. The Europeans are desperate to practice some influence on the meeting they were marginalized. Mr. Trump said he wanted to see whether Putin is serious about ending the war, and now in his fourth year.
But Mr. Trump disappointed the allies in Europe, saying that Ukraine will have to have some Russian -controlled lands. He also said that Russia should accept land bodies, although it is not clear that Putin is expected to give up.
Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski’s office confirmed on Tuesday to CBS News that he would attend a virtual meeting with Mr. Trump and European leaders on Wednesday.
Europeans and Ukraine warn that Putin – who launched the largest land war in Europe since 1945 and used Russia’s energy in an attempt to intimidate the European Union – may secure favorable concessions and determine the outlines of a peace agreement without it.
The intense fear for European countries is that Putin will put his eyes on the next one if he wins in Ukraine.
In an early statement on Tuesday, the leaders said they “welcome President Trump’s efforts towards ending the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.” But they stressed, “The path of peace in Ukraine cannot be determined without Ukraine.”
They said, “The fair and permanent peace that brings stability and security must respect international law, including the principles of independence, sovereignty, and regional integrity, and the international borders should not change by force.”
“We all support President Trump’s design, and together we must form the situations that will not allow Russia to deceive the world again,” Zelinski said in a social media post on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President rejected the idea that Ukraine should be committed to abandoning land to secure a ceasefire. Russia has the control of four areas of the country, two in the east of the country and two in the south.
“We see that the Russian army is not preparing to end the war. On the contrary, they are making movements indicating preparations for new offensive operations,” Zelinski said on Tuesday. “As long as they continue to war and occupation, we all must maintain our pressure – pressure pressure, pressure pressure, and diplomacy pressure. I thank everyone who helps. Peace through strength.”
Mikhalao Poduliak, Advisor to the head of the Zelinski office, said that anything less than the strategic defeat of Russia means that any ceasefire deal will be according to the terms of Moscow, erosion of international law and send a dangerous signal to the world, said Mikhaelo Poduliak, Advisor to the head of the Zelinski office.
“Putin’s final goal is to” eliminate Ukraine as a sovereign country by dismantling its military and foreign policy and its right to self -determination. “
In Ukraine, a Russian missile attack on a Ukrainian military training facility left a dead soldier and 11 other wounded, and the Ukrainian ground forces deployed on Telegram. The soldiers who rush to the shelters were struck with cluster ammunition, according to the Ukrainian ground forces.
Meanwhile, Russia appeared about to take an important city in the Donetsk region, where its forces were reported to sneak quickly to northern Boucrovsk.
Military analysts who use open source information to monitor the battles say that next 24-48 hours may be decisive. The loss of Bokrovsk will deliver an important victory in the battlefield before the summit. It will also complicate Ukrainian supply lines to the Donetsk region, where the Kremlin focused on the largest part of his military efforts.
“A lot depends on the availability, amount and quality of Ukrainian reserves,” wrote Passi Barwinen, an analyst at the Black Bird group in Finland, in a late Monday publication.
The Ukraine Army said its forces are restoring Russian infantry units in an attempt to infiltrate their defensive positions in the Donetsk area. On Monday, the Ukrainian military leadership in the region posted on Monday that enemy soldiers penetrate the Ukrainian lines to capture more lands “face the inevitable death” but they admit that the situation is still “difficult, unpleasant and dynamic.”
On Monday, Mr. Trump repeated that “there will be some land exchange.” He said this would include “some bad things for both Ukraine” and Russia. Putin’s rehabilitation apparently to Putin – a pariah in most Europe – has led to the occurrence of supporters of Ukraine.
Mr. Trump was also criticizing Zelinski, noting that the leader of Ukraine was in power throughout the war and said “nothing happened” during that time. He remained that although with Putin, who was undisputed power in Russia for decades.
It is not clear whether the Europeans are not stable by Mr. Trump, saying by mistake twice that he will travel to Russia on Friday to meet Putin. The summit is held in Alaska, which Russia colonized in the eighteenth century until Caesar Alexander II sold it to the United States in a land deal in 1867.
The Europeans will make a new mobilization attempt by Mr. Trump to the Ukraine case on Wednesday in the virtual meetings held by German Chancellor Fredchich Mirz. Mr. Trump did not confirm whether he would participate, but he said: “I will get everyone’s ideas” before meeting with Putin.
A statement on Tuesday was supposed to be a demonstration of European unity. However, the Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Urban, the closest ally of Putin in Europe and tried to prevent the European Union’s support for Ukraine, did not support it. He was the only one of the leaders of the 27 bloc who refused to do so.
