Enzo Maresca emphasized that the reinforcement of defense is its top priority after the last ACL surgery from Levi Colwell.

The young defender, who played an important role for Chelsea last season and during the club’s World Cup, is facing a long recovery and is expected to miss most of the next campaign after being injured during training earlier this week.

Although Chelsea is already investing more than 200 million pounds in the new signatures this summer, Marisca indicated that the club is likely to return to the transportation market to enhance its defensive options in the absence of Colwell.

“It is a priority for me,” Marisca told Channel 5.

“Levy is a great player. What we have achieved last season because of him. He played a lot of games with me, I love him. We will miss him.

“We are also trying to find different solutions.”

Marcelsa made these comments after the first friendly return before the season in Chelsea in Stamford Bridge, where the Blues won a 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen despite his resumption only four days ago.

In thinking about performance, Marisca said: “(I) is very happy with performance, especially after just four days of training. It is good to start again.”

One of the prominent players was the Brazilian young man, Estefo, who scored alongside Joao Pedro and admired his first appearance, calling for a regular place when the Premier League season begins.

“He is very small, very small. He needs adaptation, and he needs to play. I said yesterday that he will help because he is a great player.”

With Chelsea’s highly attacking ranks this summer, Marcelsa admitted that not all players will be satisfied with the time of play, given the competition for places.

“Not all of them are always happy, because if they don’t play, they will be happy.

“They must understand that they are all good, 22, 23, 24 players, and they must understand that there will be many courses.”
