One killer as anger anger in southern Greece

One person was killed after a big fire in Kereatea, southeast of Athens, spread quickly, destroyed homes and paid evacuation alerts.

The firefighting service says that the body of an elderly man was found inside his home in the Togani area, near the place where the fire began.

Blaze erupted shortly after 14:00 local time (12:00 GMT) on Friday in the Manoutso area, as it initially burned through dry grass and land plots.

Throughout Greece, more than 50 agricultural fires and forests erupted over the past 24 hours – one of the worst days of forest fires this summer.
