Mafia: the old countryFrom the developer of Hangar 13, is the fourth entrance in Mafia concessionWhich started in 2002. The World Open Games Series, which focuses mainly on organized criminal activities in the Italian mafia in fictional American cities, less than a year after the Grand Theft Auto III, which firmly created the open world style of games.
While the mafia games did not have a chaos GTAInstead they presented it was a convincing story that kept you attached to your console. Mafia: the old countryHowever, he does not have this or more, because the game lacks a lot of material in its large open world that made previous games rich and enjoyable.
In the old country, the players enter the role of Enzo, a young man who was sold to a sulfur mine in Sicily to pay his debts in 1904. The establishment of the game in Italy is the exit of the series, which had previously followed the crops of mobs such as The Godfather in its stories in America with the imaginary cities lost in the haven and the Meththazzles Pay. It is a promising start, but the smaller scope of the game – PRICETAG of $ 50 suggests a limited range of more than $ 70 and even AAA 80 dollars these days – becomes clear with the progress of the game.
After the mine collapsed almost his life, Enzo escapes to a relative generosity without Torissi, a head of the local mafia families. Don takes in Enzo, not because it has a sympathetic heart, but the need for muscles: men from a competitive family were beyond at home, indicating disrespect.
Enzo begins as one of the hands rented to generosity, but it is deeper in the world of criminal crime, where Don gives it more and more tasks. Each chapter plays a specific important event over four years as Enzo becomes part of the Torrisi family. There is even a starting ceremony in the family that resembles those shown in other mafia films and shows like soprano.
The old country aims to be somewhat accurate in the time period, but it is not so realistic that it pulls fun. In each chapter, Enzo must complete some tasks that usually include a little driving or horse riding somewhere, surreptitious sequences, type of battle, combating a dramatic knife becomes a formula. Ultimately, the game feels restrictions on its dependence on the text story that gives up the free nature of the previous mafia games.
More text of the godfather
One of my biggest handles about the mafia: the old country is how it is texts. There are no manifestations of freedom within the game, which dictates specific experiences with the illusion of chance and randomness.
For example, throughout the game, Enzo must compete in two races: one with a horse and the other in a car. Either way, I was dealing with competition early and failed to knees, but I advanced against other contestants with some sharp turns and illegal tactics such as my horse shock in other cycles. The thing is that as soon as another contestant passed, it seemed as if the game advanced and stopped trying this contestant, so I really did not really need many reasons to check my tail to see if the man I passed by would catch me because they seemed to stop the inconvenience.
The same applies to the enemies in an exchange of fire. They fail to some cover, and some, for any reason, just walk you directly while filming. There is no sense of urgency or anxiety when shooting; They are only texts to move forward. It is fixed through the tasks, as once you reach a certain point, the sequence changes on ten cents without any hint of natural transition from a surreptitious play to a fiery battle.
Maviusus in the old country continued to come.
This was truly confusing in the areas of San Celeste, where the town’s residents gathered. If you are considering doing some GTA’s typical chaos, you can forget it. In these areas, you cannot pull a pistol, which is good, but on the outskirts of these areas, you can. There is a little failure that you cannot shoot at people, although some may react when the gun is pulled and directed to it. However, you can throw a manual bomb, and the bomb does nothing curse. No injuries, no one runs, no reaction, nothing. The town’s residents are only obligated to the scenario, and this is all.
It is a shame for how much this game feels. You have all the tools really needed to get some fun and interact with the imagination of being a criminal in a land that does not converge, and the developers have done everything possible to make sure not to get out of half.
Tire
The ancient country’s presentation has a share of issues for me. To start, I was provided with the computer code, which is not my favorite platform for the game, and for the exact way I encountered.
My desktop was not the highest line with GeForce RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5 3600, but it takes well enough games, and for any reason, I was receiving a continuous slowdown in the sequence. When I played the game for the first time, it automatically set my graphics settings between the middle and the height, which is a typical matter for most games, and I dealt with Laggy transformations from the movement to Cutscene and vice versa. The old country requires a good amount of strength, but I have never got my computer a lot along this for a new game, which makes me hope this is fixed in correcting one day improvement.
Another issue in the presentation was the editing of the sound. Voice actors did a great job to revive their characters to life. In particular, Don Torissi, which Johnny Santiago played, was just exciting. Once a Torissi was introduced, I already felt that the charisma run by a person runs a crime family, and when he urinates, you can feel it in your bones.
However, between some careful audio acting, there were some noticeable moments when I can say that the sound editing did not give this natural diverge that you expect when two people speak. There were also moments when you hear that she might not use the best in the font reading.
Don’t cross without.
Graphics, because there is no better word, fine. The letters of letters have been detailed, but not exceptionally. The same can be said to a part of Sicily. I haven’t seen that one spot that made me want to stop everything and look at the ground around it, and this is a shame given the shift from American cities to the sprawling Italian countryside.
Another bright point was the result. It was full of different pieces that felt the originality of the time period – symphony strings and other classic Italian fare – but they are also exciting and really added to those tense moments.
Pull a knife and pull a knife, this is the San Celeste method
Combat in Mafia, most often, is somewhat standard for the third -person motion game that is held in the early twentieth century. It is a lot of shooting with pistols, guns and guns, with a different stoppage force, ammunition and accuracy. What is unique in this game is knives.
The codes are available to the player very wide, more weapons, and they play a big role in the game behind the fighting. During a hidden sequence, Enzo uses a knife to kill enemies immediately instead of a mashed to a button to strangle them. There is a group of knives that it can throw to get the enemies out of a distance. The blade can be lost as it is used to open the locks on the doors and lock boxes, in addition to killing people, so there are some increased durability knives, which can be reset whenever they pick up a stone of stones that enemies will cause.
Where the knife really comes is the individual battles. This tends to be the fabrics that close the full fighting sequence, and at the end of the game, they include more prominent characters. These battles are exciting but nothing exceptional, which satisfies a story but is not exciting in playing.
For these dramatic meetings, Enzo promised them their private life tape and needs to cut each other with the tilted, the payment attack to reach enemies away, and a strong attack to break the enemy’s ban, and Dawadj and Bari. If you have not discovered this yet, this is just paper scissors, but you know, with knives-which is good if it can be predicted. There are no QuickTime events during the battles, only cross breaks as Enzo wanders and oppresses it around each other before returning to the duel position. Everything, again, through the text program, and although it can be completely dramatic, it is simply not particularly special. Perhaps there was a lot of knife battles in the early days of the mafia, I have no idea, I am not a mafia historian, but this seems to have been aimed at giving the fighting some taste. The game takes place in the twentieth century, so there are no machine guns, missile launchers, or flame launchers, and developers believe that giving these dramatic serials can help add both historical realism at that time while preserving them exciting.
If this is the case, then this idea is the palaces of the old country. I have this beautiful scene that is not really available to explore until you complete the game and cancel the exploration mode. Once I am adventurous, I find that there is not much to see it, and in some cases, it has no meaning, as the stairs rise to the walls of the brick. I meet these interesting characters that I would like to know more about and I will be ready to spend time with her, but I can’t see them only when they are allowed during missions.
Open World Games Playing Contracts can be since GTA III led me to expect more open world game. The mafia is not GTA, and the old country maintains the linear style of the first two games, but it is very limited. Although I did not hope for the RPG, freedom will just prevent me from feeling the railway in one story. At least in the first mafia game, I can fined it for speed, while in this game, I can accelerate the countryside without worrying.
I wanted to see the mafia: the old country gives me more to dump my teeth. This does not revolve around the length, which comes at about 12 to 15 hours to complete, but more about the presence of some meat on the bone. If it comes to a cinematic curve to play in front of me, you should really give me instead of a very typical love story until the last hour or so. My hopes were high for the mafia: the old country, and did not satisfy the game.
Mafia: The old country comes out on Friday on the computer, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S for $ 50.
