Famous alcohol producers had a Bumpy morning As investors react to the US Surgeon General’s advice on alcohol and cancer.
As of early Friday afternoon, Molson Coors Shares registered a 2.86% decline from where they began trading. Anheuser-Busch Inbev stock fell by about 2.04%.

The Surgeon General’s current required poster says, “Government Warning: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects. The authority to make updates bearing this designation rests with Congress.
“This consultation sets out steps we can all take to raise awareness of the cancer risks of alcohol and reduce harm,” Murthy said in a statement.

The advisory said that about 45% of Americans are aware that alcohol causes the risk of cancer.

Gallup reported In August Among Americans who drink alcohol, 34% said they consume beer “most often.” Meanwhile, a third of them said they preferred wine.
About 29% of Americans who drink alcohol report that alcoholic beverages are what they drink most often, according to Gallup.
