Hundreds of former Israeli positions appeal to Trump to help end the Gaza war

A group of about 600 retired Israeli security officials, including former intelligence agencies, wrote to US President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to immediately end the war in Gaza.

“Our professional ruling is that Hamas is no longer a strategic threat to Israel,” officials said.

“Your credibility with the vast majority of Israelis increases your ability to direct Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government in the right direction: ending war, returning hostages, and stopping suffering.”

Their appeal comes amid reports that Netanyahu is being paid to expand military operations in Gaza, where indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas stopped.

Israel launched a devastating war in Gaza in the wake of the Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 were transferred to Gaza, hostages.

Ayalon said: “Initially, this war was a fair war, a defensive war, but when we achieved all military targets, this war stopped being a fair war,” Ayalon said.

The former leaders head the leaders of the Israel Security Group (CIS), which urged the government in the past to focus on securing the hostage to the hostage.
