Central tax officials discover approximately 9 rupees in evading commodity and services tax and fraud on ITC between FY21 and FY25

Central tax officials have discovered issues that involve approximately 9 rupees of rupees in evading commodity tax, services and fraud in tax credit in the past five years between 2020-21 and 2024-25.

Up to 91,370 cases, including the commodity tax and services amounting to 7,07,942 rupees by the central government formations in the past five years between FY21 and FY25. From this, 1,29,175 rupees were recovered by voluntary deposits by taxpayers.

Moreover, a total of 44,938 cases have been discovered that include ITC fraud of 178,541 rupees by the central GST authorities in the past five years. From this, 12,831 rupees voluntarily were deposited by the taxpayers and its recovery by the government.

Information was provided by Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of Finance State to Lok sabha on Monday in response to a question about the GST group and evasion.

Collectively, this reaches 8,86,483 rupees in the past five years, of which 142,006 rupees have been recovered through voluntary deposits.

The Minister also included the various steps and measures taken by the central government and the commodity and services tax network to help improve compliance and prevent tax evasion. These digitization include electronic disposal, goods tax analyzes and services such as automated risk assessment based on the features of compliance with taxpayers, highlighting extremist values on the basis of the systematic instruction of the system, providing implementation intelligence with the aim of managing it in creativity (such as tax productivity (registration, activity of the suspicious electronic trend) and choosing revenues to check and choose Taxers for review based on different risk parameters.

The minister said: “These measures are useful in protecting revenues and dropping the accused.”

Some projects were also implemented such as “Project Anctions” (analyzes, checking the brief menu in abnormal cases), where newer technologies such as the FRS recognition system (FRS), the electronic direction bill data to determine the early GSTIN with a tilt of fake and fraudulent activity to generate intelligence reports.
