New York City officials said on Monday that the militant gunman with a gun similar to the attack killed four people inside a skyscraper in Manhattan, which includes the headquarters of the American Football Association and the offices of many major financial companies and then shot himself.
One of the four victims who killed in arms violence was an officer in the New York Police Department, 36 years old, who immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh. Mayor Eric Adams described the officer, who was on strength for 3/2 years, as a “real blue” hero.
The authorities provided some details about the other three victims who were killed by the suspect – two men and a woman. The mayor said that the third male was seriously injured due to the shooting and was “fighting for his life” in a nearby hospital.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tich said that the militant, who was identified as Shin Tamura, a 27 -year -old resident of Las Vegas, and has a history of mental illness, has pushed across the country to New York in recent days.
Tish told reporters at a news conference late at night.
“The pure evil came to the heart of our city and struck innocent and one of the police officers who were protecting these people,” Patrick Hendri, head of the Charitable Police Association, said at the press conference.

Didarul Islam, a father of a couple carrying a third child, was working at that time as part of the NYPD program that allows the appointment of unified periodical officers as security details in commercial institutions.
The fire was launched at the evening peak hour in the lobby of the Park Avenue Tower in the center of Manhattan, then moved to the upper offices of the administration company, where the suspect took the elevator to the thirty -third floor. Tish told reporters that the bloodshed had ended when the gunman shot himself in his chest.
A picture of the suspect in CNN said the police show that an armed man is walking in the building carrying a rifle that was published by a number of major media outlets. The report added that the initial checks of the suspect’s background did not show an important criminal history, pointing to the officials.
A skyscraper in 345 Park Avenue includes the offices of a number of financial institutions, including Blackston and KPMG, along with the National Football League headquarters.
A large presence of the police is close to the area around the tower, according to Reuters newspapers near the scene.
“I saw a lot of disturbances, policemen and people scream,” Ross McCje, 31 -year -old gym, who was working in the gym next to a skyscraper, told Reuters in an interview near the scene.
Kyle Marshall, 38, was working in the Morgan Stanley office in a nearby garden building when his mother sent a text message to him, alerted him to an active incident, and asked whether he was fine. “Then I wrote to me the title, and I was, like, my God. This is next to my building.”
Police kept Marshall and others inside this property when closing until 8 pm, as Reuters told. Marshall lives in the San Francisco region but comes to New York once a month to work.
“I don’t make me feel less safe in Manhattan,” he said. “The police quickly responded.”
The FBI said that agents from his New York Field Office were also responding to support at the scene.
