Tesla signed a $ 16.5 billion deal to get the next generation chips from Samsung.

“Samsung Giant New Texas FAB will be dedicated to making the AI6 chip of the next generation of Tesla,” Elus Musk to publish At late on Sunday evening. “It is difficult to overestimate the strategic importance of this.”

Chip from Tesla’s AI6 (AKA hardware 6) is the company’s bet on the design of the whole in one that can expand from operating its driver’s aid system known as full self -driving (under supervision) of Tesla Humanoid robots, leading to high -performance AI training in data centers.

Musk noted that Tesla works with TSMC to make AI5 chips, which has just finished the design. AI5, a generation that was mainly built for FSD, will be created at the Taiwan Factory in TSMC and then at the Arizona facility. Samsung is already making the AI4 chip, according to Musk.

The deal is a boost to Samsung, which has struggled to obtain a project to make its chips from the ground after it failed to attract and retain the main customers. Musk said in another post that Tesla could spend more than $ 16.5 billion on Samsung chips.

“The actual product is likely to be several times higher,” he said.

In a later post, Musk said that Samsung agreed to allow Sala to help increase the efficiency of manufacturing.

Tesla turned from NVIDIA leadership platform To its own custom segment in 2019. That slide, known as the name Computer (FSDC) or devices 3, which were launched that year in all EVS. FSDC, made by Samsung, consists of two repeated systems next to each other on one plate – choosing a design aimed at creating the required repetition for any automatic driving system.

Since then, the company’s attention has expanded to its custom chips with its ambitions. Artificial intelligence chips are the Tesla batch axis to move from the auto industry company to AI and robots.
