In Gaza, we see death in every aspect of life. Delayed companion, and survival in the streets, sky, and even in our homes. It is no longer a shock – it is a dark daily fact that forced us to adapt to it.
There are many ways to die in Gaza, although one does not have the luxury of choice.
You may be killed in a bombing, or a sniper bullet while you are trying to collect food to avoid hunger, or the courage himself may claim your life. The Ministry of Health says 116 people died due to malnutrition, many children and children.
In Gaza, the most basic necessity can be fatal. Water is one of them. Each side of it can be dangerous: provide, search for, drink, and swim in it.
Since the beginning of the genocide, the Israeli army has targeted the water infrastructure in Gaza. More than 85 percent of the water and sewage structures in Gaza are not suitable for work – including pipelines, wells and treatment facilities.
Israel has Prohibited Entering water -related materials into the tape, which makes repairs difficult. It also targeted the water benefit depot, which destroyed the equipment and spare parts.
Worse, workers who are trying to make repairs or operate the water infrastructure have been targeted and killed directly. Work in the water sector is now a fatal job.
Recently, on July 21, the Israeli occupation forces Attack A desalination factory in the Remal neighborhood in Gaza City, killing five people on the site. This was one of the few water stations in the city.
We were forced to destroy the water infrastructure in Gaza to go out in search of water on a daily basis. There are some entrepreneurs who receive exorbitant amounts of money to offer water to homes; The vast majority of people cannot afford the costs of such services.
Therefore, the Palestinians are forced to walk long and wait in long lines, and plastic jugs on hand, to bring a share of water daily.
Waiting under the burning sun not only stressful, but it can also turn into a fatal.
On July 13, 11 Palestinians – seven of them were killed – were more wounded when an Israeli civilian missile hit them while they were queues to get water from the water trucks in the Nawwayer refugee camp, and not far from my home.
Sometimes, the water trucks are not available, so people are forced to drink inappropriate water for human consumption from local wells. They are contaminated with bacteria, chemicals and other pollutants and can lead to the outbreak of water.
I felt a victim of one. Months, after drinking wine from a local well, she contracted hepatitis A. I left nausea waves unable to eat, and made the ongoing fever every breath. But the worst was the burning pain in my stomach – and it is fixed and wrapped pain as if my input was wandering with invisible hands. For weeks, I was a bed of bed, my body is weak, my consumer mind with fear.
I did not bring me a visit to the clinic of any rest – just a prescription for pain reliever and “salamtek” (I had to fight the infection on my own.
I have survived, but others are not very lucky. Hepatitis is killed, like other infectious diseases that water transports in Gaza.
In the midst of the inaccurate summer heat, one believes that at least the Palestinian sea waters can bring some comfort, but this is also fatal.
In recent weeks, the Israeli army announced the entire Gaza coast, a banned area, which actually prohibits the Palestinians of swimming, hunting, or even approaching water. Any person approaching the sea is shooting.
Even before the embargo, the Israeli army was attacking the Palestinians who would try to enter the sea to hunt fish and reduce the hunger of their families. As of December 2024, some 200 hunter Killed, according to the United Nations. Many have died since then.
While we are banned from the only place that used to make us the heat, a few kilometers north, the Israelis are freely with the same Mediterranean waves, solar enthusiasm and swimming in peace. They also enjoy long shower and running water concession. They use a luxurious 247 liter (65 gallons) per day.
According to the World Health Organization, a person Needs 100 liters (26 gallons) of water per day to cover their basic needs. People in Gaza now get between two and nine liters (0.5 – 2.3 gallons) per day.
The struggle for water is just one of the many Palestinian battles in Gaza fighting daily. There is no food to feed the individual family hunger, there is no electricity for energy lovers, and no drug for the treatment of diseases that affect us. Each aspect of life here is the endurance test. There is no, literally, nothing to reduce the weight of these brutal conditions – no comfort, no comfort, not even smaller comfort.
I still cannot understand how, in the twenty -first century, a world of more than 7 billion people, where global leaders talk about prosperity, dignity and the rule of law, we are still deprived of the most basic human necessities.
In December 2024, Human Rights Watch has publicly announced that the Palestinians in Gaza are subjected to “genocide”, and this conclusion was based on the establishment of “Israeli waters deprivation as a deliberate act.” He pointed out that “thousands of Palestinians in Gaza died as a result of malnutrition, drought and disease as of August 2024.”
A year has passed since then. Countless people have died due to Israel’s water weapons – unlikely numbers in the official death number because health authorities simply lack the ability to follow them.
The truth is outside the open. It is broadcast on the international media. It is visible on social media. However, the world remains idle, and refused to take action and stop Israel.
In this world, I would like to say: Your silence rises with a louder voice than the bombs that falls on us every day. You must behave now, or descend in history with your collusion in slaughtering the Palestinian people.
