When the border killed more than ten people in Thailand and Cambodia, regional governments are trying to prevent war between the two countries.
But a different kind of war among its citizens is already ready – through increasingly warring exchanges on social media.
The nationalists from both sides quarreled several points from national pride – from the ownership of temples and regions to the origins of traditional dances, fashion, food and sports.
The growing tensions in recent weeks, which peak in deadly attacks on Thursday have now prompted young people on both sides to circulate fresh criticism online.
Comments sections in social media publications turned into a conflict into a war area via the Internet, where Thai users and Kambodians argue with each other and support the official version of their governments.
“Justice for Cambodia”, one of the Cambodic users commented on the Tiktok video for a user trying to explain the conflict. “The Thai forces opened fire on the Cambodian forces first.”
((Who) will trust (what) said the largest deceitful country? ” The Thai user answered, indicating the wide spread Cambodia fraud centers That detained hundreds of thousands.
“Cambodia was launched in Thailand first. This is the truth. Join the use of the #cambodiaophonefire retail brand” Books of a Thai X user, in a publication of a million times.
Meanwhile, the Cambodians use the “Thailand Opening Fire” classification mark and made their videos about the conflict.

The border tensions between the two countries were boiling since May, after short skirmishes killed a compromise. Both countries imposed travel restrictions on each other and strengthened military presence along the border.
With the decrease in bilateral relations to its lowest levels in a decade, some expressed their concerns about the discrimination of hatred on social media that threatened to divide people more to the two countries.
Cambodian and Thai journalists’ associations issued a joint statement in May, saying that social media users “circulated information without clear sources” and “caused confusion”.
The groups urged social media users to “carefully consider the potential consequences” when sharing the border content.
With the heating of things, a few bodies are taken in a non -contact mode as well. A virus video posted on Thursday showed what appears to be a Thai man asking Cambodian workers to speak in Khomere – before one of them slapped him.
“We have now begun to see violence, even among groups that have no prior conflict between them,” Welwan Jongwalekasim, a professor of journalism at the Thai University, told Thai BBC, describing the national influences as a “war of hatred.”

Long cultural competition
There are many sensitive touch points for social media warriors from both countries to the battle.
The dispute between the two countries dates back to more than 100 years, when the borders of the two countries were drawn after the French occupation of Cambodia.
In 2008, Cambodia Brehah, the eleventh century temple, was located near the disputed border as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – a move that was met with a hot protest from Thailand.
The conflict later expanded to the TB ON Temple in the thirteenth century – which Cambodia claimed that Thai forces lined with barbed wire on Thursday.
These historical sites are at the heart of a long -term cultural competition between the two countries, which also extend to the worlds of sports, food and clothes.
The Thai nationalists deny what they say is the cultural theft by the “claim”, while their Khmer counterparts called them “Siamese thieves”.
In 2023, the Thai Kickboxers boycotted Southeast Asia games in Cambodia after the sporting event that they confessed to that Muay Thai was presented as Kun Khmer – which is what Cambodians call.
Earlier this month, this dispute was followed after Cambodia nominated the Khmer wedding tradition of inscriptions on the list of incisive cultural heritage.
Thai social media users claimed that the Thai traditional dress was submitted – as it ignited anger and cultural allocation allegations, as Thailand was also seeking to look into its traditional clothes by UNESCO.
Recently, Thai tourists attacked the Cambodian military officers in Tao Mine Thum, a temple in a disputed area along the Thai border.
Politics war on x
Whether the aggression will remain to see, now that Cambodia called for a ceasefire.
On the other hand, political ownership companies on both sides – who are thirsty social media users – are also hitting each other.
In a post on X, Thaxin Shinwatra, former Prime Minister of the people of Thailand, said he appreciated the offers he received to help mediate hostile works.
“But I asked for some time because I should let the Thai army teach Hun Sen as a lesson on his timing,” he wrote.
Hun Sen, former former leader, is still influential in the Kambudian policy, re -drafted at his X.
On Friday, he wrote: “I am not surprised by Thaxin’s position towards me, because he betrayed the Thai king, as well as the members of his party.” “Now, on the pretext of revenge against Hun Sen, he resorted to war, and the end result that will be the people’s suffering.”
In fact, this special escalation of events was the result of Unemployed cracking for long -term friendship Between Hun Sen and Thaksin Shinawatra. Hun Sen leakes a phone call between him and the daughter of Thaxin, Paitongtarn Shinawatra.
The conversation, as the Prime Minister – then the Prime Minister – described it “Uncle”, and one of her military leaders criticized her very embarrassing and caused great anger.
She has been suspended since then as Prime Minister and the Thailand Constitutional Court considering seeking to dismiss her.
Some Thais believe that the phone’s leakage was an attempt by Hun Sen to distract his people.
“There is no reason for the Cambodi,” said a Thai social media user, in response to the Cambodian Center, which said, “There is no reason for a country smaller than it, like Campodia, like Campodia, like Campodia, like Campodia, just as there was a reason for a smaller country with Confada like Campodia to extend,” here he wants, Conflict and war, and he wants to suspend his future position for his son and son in (Cambodia).
Even if the border conflict stops being a full war, social media battles seem to continue.
