MSI also has a 27-inch 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor at CES 2025

When Samsung It has unveiled the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor On Thursday, Engadget’s Igor Bonivasic predicted that other sellers would soon follow suit. (After all, Samsung is also the largest provider Of OLED gaming monitor panels.) MSI certainly followed suit on the same day in Consumer Electronics Show 2025 With two displays with familiar specifications: a 27-inch QD-OLED with 4K resolution and a 27-inch QD-OLED with an ultra-smooth 500Hz refresh rate.

First up: the 27-inch 4K QD-OLED display, ideally marketed as… the MPG 272URX QD-OLED. (Sure, why not!) MSI is marking its display as the first to integrate this panel with it Display port 2.1awhich can provide a better combination of resolution and frame rates. Like its Samsung equivalent (the G81SF), it has a 240Hz refresh rate and should look nice and crisp at 166 ppi.

MSI says this panel “significantly reduces color fringing,” which should help with the poor text legibility that’s often common in QD-OLED displays. As my colleague Igor points out, this could be the perfect do-it-all monitor for gaming, work, or anything else you can use it for.

It supports NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology, so smooth gameplay likely won’t be a concern. The MPG 272URX QD-OLED received the Innovation Award at CES 2025.

The 27-inch QHD QD-OLED model also has a catchy and memorable name: MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50. (Yes!) MSI is marketing this monitor to “all the major players out there,” likely due to its low resolution (2560 x 1440). It also uses DisplayPort 2.1a and (like the Samsung) can have a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. It’s VESA ClearMR 21000 certified, so motion blur shouldn’t be an issue when enjoying the amazing 500Hz refresh rate.

MSI has not yet shared pricing or release date information for either model.
