Ivory Coast announced on Tuesday that French forces will begin withdrawing next January as part of a shift towards strengthening its military forces. The move follows broader trends across West Africa, where countries such as Senegal and Chad are also reevaluating their defense partnerships and asserting greater sovereignty.
