The founder of Meta Mark Zuckerberg said that the social media giant will spend hundreds of billions of dollars to build huge data centers of artificial intelligence in the United States.
Zuckerberg said it is expected that the first multi -data center, called Prometheus, is expected to come online in 2026.
He said that one of the sites would cover the area of nearly Manhattan (59.1 square kilometers/22.8 square miles).
Meta has invested extensively in efforts to develop what was called “Superinteigence” – technology that he said could exceed the smartest human.
The company, which has achieved most of its money online advertisements, has produced more than $ 160 billion of revenues in 2024.
In a post on his social media platform, Zuckerberg said that Meta was building many multi -giggroes, and that one group, called Hyperion, could reach five GB for several years.
He added: “We are building many Titan collections as well. It only covers a large part of this important part of the Manhattan imprint.”
Zuckerberg said that Prometheus will be built in New Albanian, Ohio, while Hyperion will be built in Louisiana and is expected to be online completely by 2030.
He said that Mita “will invest hundreds of billions of dollars … to build Supers to distract” and that the centers have given “names worthy of their size and impact.”
“It is clear that Zuckerberg intends to spend his way to the top of the artificial intelligence pile,” Cambrian Ai Research told BBC.
“The talent he uses will be able to reach some of the best artificial intelligence devices in the world,” added Frond added.
Reuters news agency reported that Meta’s shares were rising by 1 % after the announcement. The stock has increased more than 20 % so far this year.
There are at least 10,000 data centers around the world hosting the cloud – remote servers that store digital information – with most of them in the United States, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany.
Data centers driven by artificial intelligence are very intense energy and water. One study indicates that these centers can consume 1.7 trillion gallons of water worldwide by 2027. One query of artificial intelligence – for example, request to chat – A lot of water can be used like a small bottle that you buy from the corner store.
