In the late 1990s, a small Russian town was calm when Irina Ganuskina stumbled at a police station – an escape from a live nightmare.

Irina revealed to the authorities that she was one of five women who were kidnapped and grabbed a secret underground warehouse by the murderer of a notorious series: Alexander Commun, nicknamed the “obsession”.

For Irina and other survivors, freedom was only the beginning. In a country where women’s violence stories are often rejected, they have now faced a new challenge: rebuilding their lives after an unimaginable horror.
