CNBC is getting into the live streaming game with a service called CNBC+. The platform will have global live streaming with financial news happening in the US, UK and Asian markets. Subscribers can also watch full episodes of the show on demand. The service is available via iOS and Android apps or on cnbc.com.

according to CNBC announced news and pricing plans for CNBC+ on January 1 in an email to people who signed up for the network’s digital offerings. It seems strange to announce a new property intended for entrepreneurs and financial professionals on a day when most businesses are closed. CNBC is also one of the current owner properties of Comcast to merge into a new company, making this a difficult time for the network to launch an expensive new endeavor.

And expensive is the key word. Not only is running a digital platform like this expensive, but CNBC+ is also not cheap for viewers. The standard subscription will cost $15 per month, while the Pro tier packages contain additional stock reviews and picks as well as the My Portfolio feature for $35 per month or $300 per year. For really committed fans, there’s also an All Access plan that includes participation in an online investment club led by CNBC personality Jim Cramer. This plan costs a staggering $600 per year.

This isn’t the first time cable news channels have tried to broadcast live independently. Warner Bros. launched Discovery to CNN+ in March 2022, immediately only Only weeks later. We’ll see if CNBC+ can hold on much longer.
