The survivors of a bridge in the state of Gojarat in India said on Wednesday who killed at least 15 people that they initially believed that it was an explosion or an earthquake.

Local residents also rushed to help save people from the river

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from Gojarat, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and announced compensation.

The collapse of Wednesday is among a series of fatal incidents associated with aging and public infrastructure that has been mainly maintained in India.
