The catastrophe that is revealed in Gaza cannot only be understood through the lens of the humanitarian crisis. What we are witnessing is not just a tragic result of war, but the deliberate use of hunger as a tool for political and demographic control. This strategy, designed to dismantle Palestinian society, reaches a form of structural genocide.
The Israeli military and political leadership, in its endeavor to dominate and erase the aspirations of the Palestinian patriotism, exceeded the bombing and physical destruction. Today, its methods are more treacherous: it targets the essence of the Palestinian survival: food, water and means to bear it.
Breaking the will of people by depriving them of feeding themselves is not side effects. It is a policy. According to reports from Independent international bodiesMore than 95 percent of the agricultural lands in Gaza have been destroyed or are useless. This number is not just an economic loss; It is the deliberate dismantling of the sovereignty of food, and with it, any hope of independence in the future.
Systematic destruction. The seeds were banned. The water infrastructure has been targeted. Fisherfolk and farmers – who are already working under severe siege conditions – are repeatedly attacked. These are not random actions. It is part of a broader plan to re -engineer the demographic and economic future in Gaza in line with the long -term strategic goals of Israel: absolute control and political submission.
What makes this more worrying is the complicity of the international community. Whether through silence or mysterious diplomatic data that describes the situation as a “humanitarian crisis”, global actors helped normalize the use of hunger as a war weapon. The refusal to name these measures for what they commit – the war crimes that are committed as part of the genocide – gave Israel the cover to continue impunity.
The most anxious is how the food itself has become a bargaining chip. Access to essentials such as flour, child format, and bottled water, are now linked to political and military negotiations. This reveals a dark logic of power. The goal is not stability or mutual security – is to impose political conditions through the calculated manipulation of civil suffering.
By making Gaza be totally dependent on external aid with the domestication of local survival means, Israel has created a trap in which the Palestinians are stripped of all the political and economic agency. It is reduced to a population that can be managed, controlled and acquired.
All statistics that come out of Gaza must be read through this lens. That 100 percent of the population is now He suffers From food insecurity is not just a tragic. It is a sign of the progress of the strategy. This is not related to feeding the hungry. It comes to rappinging the people’s spirit and forcing them to accept a new truth on the conditions of the occupier.
However, the flexibility of Gaza continues. Under siege and hunger, this challenge revealed the moral collapse of an international order that prefers the crises that are managed to political accountability. This is not a famine born from dehydration. This is not the chaos of the failed state. This is a crime under progress – it is implemented with wide open eyes, under the preventive cover of global indifference.
Also allow me to add that international civil society organizations and global social movements – such as La via Campesina – They do not stand silent. In fact, in September, some of the most prominent movements of farmers, fishermen and indigenous peoples-many of them from the conflict-affected areas-in Sri Lanka of the Third World Forum Nelini. There, we aim to build A unified global response To the extensive indifference that floats to the completion of the entire societies. From A to Z, we are working to develop concrete proposals to ensure that food is not exposed at all and that hunger is never used as a war tactic. At the same time, countless solidarity work around the world, led by persons from the conscience who demand their governments to take action.
History will remember what is happening in Gaza. You will also remember those who chose silence. Justice may be delayed, but it will come, and he will ask who stopped with hunger has been used to try to break people.
