In an interview with People magazinethe actor revealed his favorite aspect of celebrating New Year’s Eve in New York City — a surprise take on the famous confetti.
“Every New Year’s Eve, when those confetti rain down on all the revelers, those are actually people’s wishes,” Bennett revealed. “You’re standing there, and you’re being bombarded with New Year’s wishes from a lot of people. There’s something really special about that, and that’s what I love so much about New Year’s Eve in Times Square.”
A Hallmark representative then told the outlet that “the new year is a symbol of a new beginning” and that the confetti “is a symbol, a literal physical symbol, of everyone’s wishes for the new year.”

He added: “I think we always have wishes full of hope, and we have wishes for better days to come, and a better life, and there are a lot of people’s wishes for the new year.” “So having it showered on top of you is very special.”

Bennett also explained that the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, the organizations behind the famous ball drop, play a key role in ensuring that each wish finds its place on a piece of confetti. These wishes are collected either from the “Wall of Wishes” in Times Square or through submissions on the event’s official website.
The actor added, “They are very adamant about using true wishes and making sure that every wish that is put in this box will make it to the end.”

One wish “almost exploded,” Bennett said.

Reflecting on an unforgettable moment with Countdown Entertainment President Jeffrey A. Strauss, Bennett shared an example “when a desire was almost dissipated.” “I thought, ‘Oh, we almost lost this thing,'” he recalls saying, and Jeff immediately replied, “Put it back in the box.” “I looked at him and said, ‘This is someone’s wish,'” Bennett continued.
