Arne Slot, director of Liverpool, praised Diogo Jota, describing the 28 -year -old “Special”, following the tragic death of the Portuguese striker.

Gota and his brother Andre Silva, 26, were killed in a car accident in Zamora Province in northwestern Spain, around midnight on Wednesday.

Their car came out of the road after the tires exploded and the fire was burned, with the inability of the emergency services to save them after they arrived at the scene.

Jota leaves his wife Root, who married her last month, and their three young children.

SLOT, who took over in ANFILD in the summer of 2024, managed from Jota for a season as Liverpool ranked the Premier League title in the recent period of fashion.

“I wish I had words, but I know I am not doing,” said Slot in a statement.

“My first thoughts are not the football director. They are from a father, son, brother and uncle and they belong to the Dugu and Andre Silva family who have suffered from this unimaginable loss.

“My message to them is very clear – you will not walk alone. The players, employees and supporters of Liverpool Football Club are all with you and what I saw today, the same thing can be said about the broader football family.

“For us as a club, feeling shocked at all. Dieto was not only our player. He was one of our family members. He was a team -mate, teammate and teammate and in all those roles that were very special.”

Liverpool president’s words come after a flow of emotional greeting. “He was not only a great player, but a great friend, husband, love and care,” said Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool coach who brought Gota to the club from the wolves in 2020.

“We will miss you all,” said Cristiano Ronaldo, his colleague of the Portuguese Gotta team, while the fans gathered in Anfield to pay their respect.

The flag in the Liverpool town hall was reduced to half of the mast as a sign of respect for Gota and his brother.

The hole praised the ethics, humility and quality of Gota as “the essence of what a Liverpool player should be.”

He said: “There were also the parts that not everyone saw. The person who never asked for popularity but found them anyway.

“Not a friend of two people, a friend of everyone. A person made others feel satisfied with themselves only by being with them. A person who deepens his family.”

The Dutch coach revealed that the last time he spoke to Gota was congratulating him on the victory of the Nations League in Portugal in June and I wish him success at his wedding ceremony.

“In many ways, it was a summer dream of theogo and his family, which makes it more surprising that it should end like this.

“When I came to the club for the first time, it was one of the first songs that I knew was the song that our fans sang for theogo.

“We have lost these qualities in such terrible circumstances, which is something that we have not reconciled with.

“For this reason, we need every person to stand in the club together and be there for each other. We owe this DIOGO, to Andre Silva, for their broader family and ourselves.

“My condolences go to the wife of Dugo, Rut, their three beautiful children and to my father Dyou and Andre Silva.

“When the time comes, we will celebrate Dugo Gota, we will remember his goals and sang his song. For the time being, we will remember him as a unique human and be sad for his loss. He will never forget.

“His name is Dyou.”
