“The car has been burned and died at home,” said Spanish government official Angel Blanco.
Jota and Silva, both Portuguese soccer players, were the only ones in the car, according to the police.
Jota had recently married his girlfriend-his girlfriend at high school-Root Cardoso, on June 22, just 10 days before his death. Three children share.

Liverpool Football Club issued a statement after the death of Gota, saying that it was “destroyed by the tragic death of Dugo Jota.”
He added that “Liverpool FC will not make more comments at this time and ask the privacy of Diogo and Andre family, Andre, his friends, teammates and club staff because they are trying to communicate with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support.”
