Juventus 10 players ask to replace them during the club’s World Cup loss to Real Madrid

Juventus coach Igor Tudor revealed that ten players asked to replace them during the World Cup defeat in the World Cup for another 16 to Real Madrid, due to the overwhelming heat and humidity in Miami.

Currently, FIFA “cooling breaks” imposes based on the temperature of the wet bulb ball – a joint scale of heat and humidity.

Under the current regulations, mandatory breaks are run when WBGT exceeds 32 degrees. To date, the cooling breaks have been applied in 33 out of 56 games during the tournament.

However, Union’s Fifpro has argued in the world that such breaks should start as soon as WBGT reaches 28 degrees, and that matches should be completely late if readings exceed 32 degrees – a threshold lower than the current guideline of FIFA.

As the United States is appointed to host the 2026 World Cup, questions about the player’s safety in extreme heat gain a lot of urgency.
