European capitals harden their position in commercial talks with Donald Trump, as it insists that the United States falls on the European Union immediately as part of any framework deal before the deadline that is waving on the horizon on July 9.

Marošefčovič Commerce Commissioner has been directed to take a tougher line on a trip to Washington this week, where Brussels tries to remove or cut at least Trump’s long -term branch.

Washington referred to Brussels that the first stage agreement is likely to be a UK -style stage that leaves some definitions in place with the continued talks, according to European Union officials.

Ambassadors from European Union On Monday, member states asked šefčovič to insist that any such deal includes, as of July 9, discounts in the current tariff of 10 % “mutual”, according to four people who have been informed of this issue. It also demands discounts in higher sectoral fees.

In the UK case, US definitions on cars and steel continued for several weeks after the initial agreement to allow the fees or shares exempt from the fees.

The 27 members of the European Union struggled to offer a unified front in nearly three months of talks. However, European Commission President Ursula von der Lin asked the leaders at a summit on Thursday to support a tougher position, according to the people.

They said that all the results were possible, including the collapse in the talks, which may lead to a re -imposing the United States either the tariff of April 20 or 50 percent in May.

Another person who briefed him on the situation said that the European Union is still divided on whether revenge will be, which reduces the incentive for the United States for settlement.

German Chancellor Friedrich Mirz called for a quick deal that would reduce the definitions of cars. But this week, the Minister of Finance in France said that the deadline must extend for a better agreement.

European Union companies have been subjected to April, Definitions On 380 billion euros of annual trade with the United States, equivalent to about 70 percent of the total.

This includes sectoral fees by 25 percent on cars, their parts, and 50 percent on steel and aluminum.

The United States is considering expanding its scope to goods including copper, wood, parts of air space, pharmaceutical preparations, chips and critical minerals.

The European Union voted in favor of the revenge definitions on exports of 21 billion euros, but it stopped them until July 14. The committee sets a new tariff package of 95 billion euros.

Šefčovič will take place on Thursday with US Minister of Commerce Howard Lootnick and American Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

They will discuss “two of two pages in principle” from the United States. This does not cover just the merchandise trade, but “non -fire barriers” including digital regulations, food standards and products.

The Financial Times reported that Washington gives priority to such agreements to avoid having to impose a higher tariff, but expects 10 percent to remain in place during other talks.

“We are completely focused on a positive result,” said šefčovič. He said at a press conference on Monday: “It is always a good time when we can move from. Exchanging views of the formulation.”

“We are close to the allies and I think this should also be reflected in our trade agreement.”

The Director of the National Economic Council of the White House told Kevin Haysit Fox News on Monday that many agreements will be announced after the American Independence Day on July 4.

Lootnick said he expected to conclude at least 10 deals before July 9, with an increase in extensions or customs tariffs of these countries without an agreement.

Analysts in Washington said a president had encouraged the success of the UK deal, and is likely to dig a partial truce with China.

“It seems that the European Union is approaching this like commercial negotiation, which will be a tremendous mistake. From the US point of view, this seems to be about negotiating the conditions for surrender,” said Ted Murphy, Cedley’s commercial lawyer in Washington.
