Turkish police detained three other employees in a satirical magazine on Tuesday, and raised the number of people detained on a cartoonist allegedly depicting the Prophet Muhammad to four.
The animation, published in Lehman’s magazine, drew a series of condemnation from government officials who stated that she represented the Prophet Muhammad and sparked an angry protest outside the Istanbul magazine office.
Lyman denied, in a statement late in Monday, the allegations and insisted that the drawing was aimed at photographing a Muslim man named Muhammad and was aiming to shed light on the suffering of Muslims.
The pro -government newspaper, Al -Savac, said that the animation showed that “two people claimed to be the Prophet of Muhammad and the Prophet of Musa – with wings and Halos – shaking hands in the sky, while the scene of the war below is revealed with the bombs that rain.” The independent Bergon newspaper also said that the winged figures hovering in the sky were interpreted by some of the prophets Muhammad and Moses.
On Monday, the authorities launched an investigation into the weekly magazine on the accusations of “publicly religious values” and detained the cartoonist, Dogan Bevan, from his home.

Overnight, the editor -in -chief of Leman, the editor -in -chief of Zafeer Aknar, the CEBRIL OKCU and the director Ali Yavuz, said the state -run analolu. The report said that the arrest orders were issued for two of the editors who are believed to be abroad.
Late on Monday, the demonstrators, who belong to an Islamic group, were said to have threw rocks at the headquarters of Lyman in the center of Istanbul and wounded with the police.

But the editor -in -chief of the magazine, Tuncay Akgun, told AFP on the phone from Paris that the photo had been misrepresented and that “the caricature of the Prophet Muhammad”.
He said, “In this work, the name of a Muslim who was killed in the bombing of Israel was named as Muhammad. More than 200 million people in the Islamic world are called Muhammad,” he said, “He has nothing to do with the Prophet Muhammad.
“We will never face such a risk,” he said.
The police also seized the magazine offices on Istiklal Street, and arrest orders were issued to many executives in the magazine, as Aidetttin Altin wrote on X.
In a series of posts on X, Leman defended the animation and said he had deliberately misrepresented to cause provocation.
“The cartoonist wanted to depict the righteousness of the persecuted Muslims by photographing a Muslim who was killed by Israel, and he never aimed to reduce religious values,” he said.
Akgon said the legal attack on the magazine, a satirical stronghold of the opposition, which was founded in 1991, was “incredibly shocking but not very surprising.”

“The drawing of similarities with Charlie Hebedo is very intended and very disturbing,” he said of the French satirical magazine whose offices were, ” Islamic militants stormed in 2015.
The attack, which was killed 12 people, took place after the publication of the cartoons that fill the Prophet Muhammad.
