Social media has always been full of bad ideas, terrible analogies, and downright stupid remarks. But since Elon Musk bought Twitter back in late 2022, things online seem to be getting worse. And to commemorate the destruction of the once-cool social media platform, it’s only fitting that we present a collection of some truly horrific tweets from 2024.
Some of the tweets are funny, some are weird, and some are just plain lies. We couldn’t bring ourselves to share the most politically extreme and bloody tweets that have appeared on X over the past year, even though tweets like that technically fall into the “bad” category. After all, Musk built a safe space to celebrate Nazism and snuff films, as anyone who still tries to use that site can attest.
To be clear, this list is far from exhaustive. There are too many bad tweets to count. But here’s a quick look at some particularly bad tweets from the past year. We’re hoping for better Tweets in 2025. But we’re not holding our breath on that.

Musk ended up donating to one of the candidates. This man was called Donald J. Trump, the former and future President of the United States of America. The billionaire donated approx $277 million (which we know) in the 2024 elections.
In another tweet several months later, Musk denied that he was donating money to Trump. This tweet was eventually deleted after it emerged that Musk was definitely donating hundreds of millions to Trump.
