The giant Cognizant company in the field of information technology and professional services has announced a significant expansion of its operations in India with plans to build a university campus of 1583 rupees in Veskatabnam, Andra Pradesh. It spreads at a distance of 22 acres in Kapulupada I Hills, and the facility will be developed in three phases, creating more than 8,000 jobs and enhancing the company’s digital transformation and the capabilities of artificial intelligence delivery to global clients.

This announcement comes after the approval of the Council of Ministers Andra Pradesh, led by Prime Minister Sri N. Chandababo Naido. Cognizant will start operations in early 2026 with a temporary preparation with the capacity of 800 partners, before completing the first phase of permanent campus by early 2029.

Sri Nara Lukash, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Human Resources Development and RTG, welcomed the advertisement, “We are pleased to welcome knowledge in Vistabnam, which is compatible with our vision to build Andra Pradesh as a destination for the leading global institutions.”

He added: “The presence of Cognizant will increase the acceleration of the digital economy in the region while enhancing the technological skills necessary for the workforce in the future.”

Ravi Kumar, CEGNIZANT CEO, described the movement of a “great milestone” on India’s growth journey in India.
He said: “Through the gathering of abundant talents and strong infrastructure, it stands as a strong partner in our mission to develop the digital workforce for tomorrow, especially in the cities of India at the second level.”

Cognizant’s expansion in Andra Pradesh comes in the aftermath of the new delivery centers that were launched since 2024 in Bubanswar, Endor, and a technology center in the city of gifts, Gogarat-both designed to support light movement, cooperation and the next generation skills.

India is still the cornerstone of the global operations of CGNIZANT, with more than 70 % of its 336,300 employees in the country. The Visakhapatnam facility adds to its wide network via Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bonnie, Mumbai, and other cities.
