Pakistan plans to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

Pakistan has announced that it plans to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, noting the role that Islamabad says he played in helping to negotiate the ceasefire last month between India and Pakistan.

In X, the Pakistani government said that Trump deserves the award “in appreciation of his decisive diplomatic intervention and the pivotal leadership during the recent India crisis.”

India denied that the United States would serve as a mediator To end the fighting last month, he says that he does not want any diplomatic intervention by a third party.

Trump has often suggested that he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize, which the winner will be named in October.

In May, Trump issued a sudden announcement of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan four days after the fighting between nuclear armed neighbors.

The government of Pakistan said early on Saturday: “President Trump showed the great strategic insight and the stellar state through strong diplomatic participation with Islamabad and New Delhi, which led to a rapidly deteriorating situation.

“This intervention stands as evidence of its role as a real peace maker.”

There was no immediate response from Washington or New Delhi.

Trump has repeatedly said that India and Pakistan ended the conflict after the ceasefire by the United States, and also used trade as a lever to make them agree.

Pakistan has confirmed the United States’ statements about the ceasefire mediation, but India denied this.

Last month, Trump said he told India and Pakistan that the ceasefire was necessary in order to maintain trade with the United States.
