Youth opposed to the Iranian regime is divided into conflict

Last Friday, Israel fired huge air strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to take revenge on missile missiles.

In a video message that day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Iranian people that in addition to the goal of Israel, which is to thwart the Iranian nuclear program, “We are also cleansing the way to achieve your freedom.”

Some departments gathered from Iran’s opposition to Netanyahu’s call. Others are not reliable.

There are no official opposition groups inside Iran, where the authorities have long taken the opposition, including a wave of mass executions and imprisonment in the 1980s.

Since then, most opposition groups have worked from abroad, including two groups of the most organized groups: supporters of heat supporters in Reza Bahlvi, the son of the last Shah of Iran, and the Meche Creator Organization (Mek/MKO).

It has become increasingly difficult for journalists to communicate with people inside Iran, given the authorities that restrict access to the Internet and social media.

We have been able to speak to many Iranian youth who oppose the regime – and protested it in the past – in recent days.

Their names have been changed for their safety because the Iranian authorities often imprison their opponents in an attempt to suppress the opposition.

Tara, 26, told the BBC that when Israel exports evacuation warnings before the strikes, the authorities closed the internet access “so that people do not discover and the death toll rose.”

She says the checkpoints and fee stations are also prepared, accusing the authorities of “creating traffic”, which “encourage people to stay in the targeted areas.”

“Talking about patriotism, unity, and standing to the enemy is ridiculous. The enemy kills us slowly for decades. The enemy is the Islamic Republic!”

The Israeli army issues warnings to evacuate through a telegram and X, which is banned in Iran. Besides the limited access to the Internet, this means that it is difficult for Iranians to see warnings.

Sima, 27 years old, tells us that she does not care about this anymore.

“I hope that Israel will accomplish the mission as soon as possible. I am exhausted. Although I am still not a fan of Israel or what it is doing, I hope they will start what they have started.

“Thinking of wishing, I know. But I want them to get rid of us and the world of the threat of the Revolutionary Guard Corps at Irgc (Ayatollah Ali) is my loudness and the Ayatollah as a whole.”

Hormani, the supreme leader of Iran, is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, including the powerful IRGC, which is charged with defending the Islamic regime and supervising Iranian ballistic missiles. The recent Israeli strikes have killed many of the Supreme IRGC figures, including its leader, Hussein Salami.

Some of the people we spoke to were more powerful in supporting Israel’s attacks.

Amir, 23, said they supported them “100 %.” When asked why, he said he believed that no one else was ready to take over the regime.

“Not the United Nations, not Europe, not even from us. We tried, remember, and killed us in the streets. I am happy when the people who crushed our lives finally taste fear. We deserve a lot.”

Amir refers to the widespread protests in Iran after the death of Masha Amini. The 22 -year -old died in the police seizure in 2022 after his arrest for a violation of the rules that require women to wear the veil.

The Iranian group Himoti in Norway reported that 537 demonstrators were killed by the State Security Forces during the turmoil. The official line of the government is that “the security forces have acted responsibly,” which blames deaths for violent demonstrators or foreign instigators.

Netanyahu was repeated in the cry of the gathering from the protests – “Women, Life, Freedom” – on Friday in English and Persian, where the Iranians urged “standing and allowing your voices to hear.”

Iran has not officially responded to the calls of the Israeli Prime Minister, but some militant figures and the media have mocked the observations and refused. Meanwhile, the authorities have warned against sharing the campaigns and data provided by Israeli and American officials.

Some opponents of the Islamic Republic question Netanyahu’s intentions.

“I participated in the protests (in 2022) because I had hope to change the system at the time,” said Navid, a 25 -year -old activist who was briefly arrested during the protests.

“Israel also kills ordinary people. At some point, people will start taking the side of the Islamic Republic,” he added.

“I think the fact that people do not go out to protest is indeed a clear response,” Daria, 26, said.

“I will not go even if Israel bombed my home. Netanyahu is hiding behind Iranian national slogans and pretending to help the Iranians reach freedom while targeting residential areas. It will take only years to rebuild the country.”

Arizo, 22, said she does not know what to think.

“I hate the regime, and I hate what he did to us. But when I see the bombs fall, I think about my grandmother, my little cousin. I saw what Netanyahu did in Gaza – do you really think he cares about the Iranians?

“I feel that I should choose between two sins, and I can’t. I just want my popularity. I want to breathe without fear.”

“I want this system to go more than anything – but not like this. Not through more bombs, more death,” said Mina, 27.

“Israel is not our savior. When the innocent dies, it is not a step towards freedom, it is another form of injustice. I do not want to trade with a kind of terrorism for another. I am against this regime and also against this war. We deserve a better way than this.”
