Gardners Candies is recalling some of its Meltaway Bars cappuccino bars because their packaging lacked a disclaimer about tree nuts.
An announcement from the Pennsylvania-based company posted by the Food and Drug Administration on Friday said the recalled 1.25-ounce packages of the candy “may contain an undeclared nut (cashew).”
Summoning This comes “following the discovery that the product containing the tree nut was distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of the tree nut,” Gardener’s Candies said in the notice.

The recallable cappuccino bars have lot number #082725 and an expiration date of 08/27/25.
Gardners Candies said the recalled products were part of Meltaway Treat Boxes containing a variety of flavors with lot number 101625 or 112525.

People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts “are at risk of having a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they eat the recalled Meltway Cappuccino Bars, the notice said.

Gardners Candies said consumers who purchased the recalled Cappuccino Meltaway Boxes or Meltaway Treat Boxes should contact them for a replacement.
They were sold in stores and through the mail nationwide starting in September, the recall notice said.
The US Food and Drug Administration said the company linked the problem to a “temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging operations.” It has temporarily halted production of Meltway Cappuccino Bars “until the company is certain the issue has been corrected,” according to the notice.
Gardeners Sweets It dates back to the late 19th century. It has stores in multiple cities in Pennsylvania, and also sells its sweets at more than 100 retailers in three states, according to its website.
