Benjamin Netanyahu warned that his armed forces “will do what we have to do” with the leadership of Iran because he claimed that changing the regime “certainly may be the result of Israel’s attacks on the Islamic Republic.

The statements of the Israeli Prime Minister – in response to a question about the assassination of the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khounai – came after a weekend of hostilities, as the bitter enemies exchanged strikes on cities and energy infrastructure.

Since its sudden attack on Friday, Israel has killed the main military and nuclear figures in Iran and launched air strikes throughout the country, as it participated in the strongest armies in the Middle East in an explicit war.

In an interview with Fox News, he was asked whether the overthrow of the raw regime is one of the targets of Israel’s assault, Netanyahu said that “it could definitely be the result because the driving is very weak.”

“Eighty percent of people will expel these theoretical thugs,” the Prime Minister of Israel continued. “The decision to act, and the rise is the decision of the Iranian people.”

When asked about the Reuters news report that Donald Trump had made an Israeli plan to kill Khameneni, Netanyahu said: “There are a lot of wrong reports on talks that have never occurred, and I will not go into that.”

He added: “But I can tell you, I think we are doing what we need to do, and we will do what we need to do. I think the United States knows what is good for the United States.”

Israel has long followed an assassination policy against its enemies in the region. Its armed forces have removed the highest ranks from Iran -backed armed groups, Hamas and Hzbeh since Israel, attacked by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Netanyahu spoke after Trump earlier on Sunday called on an agreement between the warring parties, saying that “many calls and meetings” are now taking place that will lead to peace soon. “Iran and Israel must conclude a deal, and it will make a deal,” he wrote on the social truth.

In a later invitation to ABC News, Trump also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “ready” to mediate – adding that he was “open” to the idea and discussed it with his Russian counterpart.

But despite Trump’s comments, Israel and Iran continued to trade on Sunday.

Israeli officials said that the armed forces in Israel had carried out strikes on more than 80 targets, including the Ministry of Defense sites, military and nuclear sites, as well as at least two energy facilities. Dozens of Iranians were killed in the attacks, but the authorities did not issue a total number of deaths and injuries.

Iranian government media reported that Israel had carried out many attacks throughout Tehran, including at least two in residential neighborhoods in the city center, and hit a major water pipeline, causing leaks in the northern parts of the capital.

Online videos also showed fires of fires and smoke in the center of Tehran and other parts of the city, and the police reported heavy traffic in Tehran’s exit, indicating that many residents were leaving the capital to the safest cities. The explosions were reported in Manshad, the city of Iran in the far east, in a sign of Israel’s expansion of its attack throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Iran continued to shoot in Israel, including one on Sunday afternoon, and three during the night who killed 11 people and wounded more than 200, in addition to hitting the refining infrastructure in Haifa Port, according to an organizational deposit from the Bazan Group.

Officials from the two countries also continued to trade threats, as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to inflict a similar destruction on Tehran, as it did on Beirut in its attack against the Lebanese, Hizbullah group last year. Iran’s President Masoud Bezishian pledged to respond to a “more painful” response if Israel continues its attack.
