Nigeria Ken Saro, Yawa and Awjouni nine by the president 30 years after death

The late activist Nigeria President Ken Saro Y and Ya, 30 years after he was executed global anger.

In addition to the issuance of a pardon on Thursday, Nigerian President Paula Tenopo granted national decorations to Mr. Saro and Ya Ya Yua, and his activists, who were known as Agouni nine.

The nine men – Mr. Saru, Ya, Boinim Caobel, John Kabinin, Paribor Pera, Felix Nat, Paul Livola, Sabt Dobby, Nordo Eye, and Daniel Giboko – were among dozens of honor as part of the Nigerian annual democracy day.

Tenobo said the awards confessed the “heroes” who made “prominent contributions” to democracy in the country.

In response to Angouni nine, the campaign groups said it wanted to take more steps.

The Movement of the people of Ugon (Musob), who was previously led by Mr. Saro and Yawa, was described as a “brave act.”

However, Musob also said that the pardon involves any violations, while in reality “no crime has occurred.”

Barenim Copypel’s widow expressed her gratitude to Tianobo for the national honor, but she called on the president to “declare her husband and ownership” innocent “because” pardon does not give innocent. “

Elsewhere, Amnesty International said the compassion is “much less than the justice that Ugoni needs nine.”

The Foundation added that more must be done to contract oil companies to calculate the environmental damage that is currently taking place in Nigeria.

Mr. Saro and Yawa, who was one of the major authors in Nigeria, led the Ugone people in peaceful demonstrations against Shell and other oil companies.

MOSOP accused the multinational company of polluting the Earth that the locals relied on their livelihoods.

The Nigerian government responded by brutally cracking on the demonstrators. Ugoni has been convicted of nine by a secret military court to kill four Ugoni chiefs.

Their execution sparked anger within the international community. It has been widely convicted as a murder outside the judiciary and has become a global symbol of conflict against injustice and environmental repression.

Thus, Nigeria was suspended from the Commonwealth Group.

Since then, Shell has faced many lawsuits for oil spills and environmental damage to Niger Delta, the southern region of which Uguniland is part of.

In 2021, the Dutch Court ordered Shell to compensate farmers for the spills that contaminated the areas of agricultural lands and fishing water in the Niger Delta. The company agreed to pay more than one hundred million dollars.

Earlier this year, Lawyers who represented together from Oujunilland at the Supreme Court in London argued that Shell should bear the responsibility for oil pollution that occurred between 1989 and 2020.

Shell denies committing any violations and says that spills in the region caused sabotage, theft and the illegal refining that the company says is irresponsible.
