Outgoing Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili became the country’s first female president in 2018 with the support of the ruling Georgian Dream party. Now, six years later, with the ruling party turning more pro-Russian despite its promises to promote European integration, the pro-EU Zurabishvili is being pushed out of the presidential palace to make way for Mikheil Kavelashvili, a party loyalist.
