Neglecting fear and terrorism
The mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass condemned federal immigration raids, saying they “sow terrorism in our societies and disrupt the basic safety principles in our city.”
Calip Soto, of the workers ’planning network on the National Day, told Al -Jazeera that between 70 and 80 people were arrested, but only three lawyers were allowed to reach the detention center where they were detained to provide legal advice.
“The chaotic method of the raids that we saw today was spoken throughout Los Angeles, various work sites, day of day workers’ work sites, and clothing sites, an example of the purpose of what this Trump administration has set, which creates the largest possible fear,” Soto told Al -Jazeera Island.
He said that Ice agents who did not obtain a judicial memorandum required under American law, and was granted from a judge if there was a possible reason for the implementation of arrest due to the suspected criminal activity.
Soto said that ICE customers were appearing at work sites “where they know that there are many migrant workers” and “people who do not have documents”, and if someone begins to run, they use this “reasonable complaint” that the person is not documented.
He said: “They use this as an excuse to start arresting the people there in this field and around them. We find that this is somewhat unconstitutional.”
Los Angeles raids are the latest survey in many American cities in recent months as part of President Donald Trump Immigration campaign.
Trump, who took immediate steps to intensify the enforcement of immigration after assuming his post in January, promised to arrest uncomfortable immigrants and deport them with record numbers.
In late May, his administration stated that it would play the temporary legal status of 530,000 people in the country, including Cubans, Haitians, Nicaragua and Venezuelan.
