Israel has warned “there will be no calm in Beirut” after it launched the largest attack on the Lebanese capital since the ceasefire.
The Israeli army will continue to bomb Lebanon if Hezbollah has not been disarmed, and Israeli Defense Secretary has warned Katz, saying, “There will be no calm in Beirut” and “There is no matter or stability in Lebanon” unless Israel’s security is guaranteed.
The Israeli minister said in a statement on Friday.
The Israel Army launched a A series of strikes Targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut Thursday evening, and sending large numbers of residents fleeing from their homes on the eve of the Muslim Eid holiday, except after the issuance of forced evictions an hour ago.
Israel claimed, without providing evidence, that its most recent attack was launched against Hezbollah’s “drone factories” in the Lebanese capital.
The Israeli army said that Hezbollah was “working to increase the production of drones (drone) for the upcoming war” with Israel in a “flagrant violation” of the conditions of the ceasefire in November.
The National Wilaya of Lebanon State said that Israeli combat aircraft had carried out about ten strikes in the attack. Hezbollah statement said that the initial evaluation showed that nine buildings were destroyed, while dozens of others were damaged.
Hezbollah also denied that there are drones production facilities in the targeted sites.
The Israeli attack was the fourth and heavy, which was targeting the southern outskirts of Beirut – the stronghold of Hezbollah – since the ceasefire ended on November 27.
The last attack by Israel on the Lebanese capital, in which it claimed the destruction of “infrastructure where micro -missiles were stored” by Hezbollah, It came in late April.
“A blatant violation of an international agreement”
Throughout Lebanon, Israel has violated the ceasefire on a daily basis in the seven months since its signing, according to the Lebanese government of President Joseph Aoun, the Arab countries and human rights groups.
AUON appealed to the United States and France, the guards of the ceasefire in November, to curb Israel’s attacks.
Speaking late on Thursday, Aoun expressed a “strong condemnation of the Israeli aggression”, as the attacks were described as “a flagrant violation of an international agreement … on the eve of a sacred religious festival.”
On Friday, Ali Ammar, Hezbollah, urged “all Lebanese political forces … to translate the condemnation statements into tangible work,” including diplomatic pressure.
The Lebanese government said in April that the Israeli strikes in Lebanon had killed at least 190 people and wounded nearly 500 others.
Under the ceasefire agreement, the Lebanese army was assigned to disarm Hezbollah – a political party and a paramilitary group believed to be more armed than the state.
But after an attack on Thursday, the Lebanese army warned that such attacks are weakening its role in the ceasefire. He added that Israel refused its proposal to inspect the alleged drone production sites in southern Beirut in order to prevent air strike.
“The violations of the Israeli enemy of the deal and its refusal to respond to the committee weaken the role of the committee and the army,” the army said in a statement.
He added that the ongoing Israeli attacks can lead the army to freeze its cooperation with the observation committee “when it comes to searching for jobs” and dismantling the Hezbollah infrastructure near the Israeli border in southern Lebanon.
The war between Israel and Hezbollah restored a preference in the wake of the Israel war on Gaza in October 2023, when the Lebanese group launched across the border attacks on northern Israel in solidarity with Hamas.
Subsequent Israeli attacks on Lebanon killed more than 4,000 people, including hundreds of civilians, before the ceasefire was signed. Hezbollah killed the fire in Israel in Israel 87 Israeli military personnel and 46 civilians.
