At least 260 mines were brought to the surface in South Africa after they held underground in a golden mine for 24 hours.

Africa is at the center of high demand for precious minerals and minerals.

Lithium is necessary to move away from fossil fuels, and is used for batteries in electric cars and other clean energy technologies.

But in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, rights groups continue to condemn the dangerous working conditions of children in craftsmen, especially for cobalt.
