Mozilla closes the reading application pocket

Mozilla Declare On Thursday, the pocket was turned off, a reading application that you gained in 2017, on July 8. The company also closes the Fakespot, which is the browser extension that helps users identify unreliable reviews.

“Pocket’s millions have helped memorize articles and discover the stories worth reading,” Mozilla said in a blog post. “But the way people have evolved on the web, so we direct our resources to projects that fit better with their browsing habits and their online needs.”

Users will be able to follow the use of application and browser apps for a pocket until July 8. After that date, Pocket will only move to the export position. Users until October 8 have to export reserved articles, including the elements on their list, archive, preferences, notes, and prominent monuments.

Although Mozilla has not provided a specific reason to close the service, the company says it will continue to invest in helping people discover and “access high -quality web content.” Mozilla says she will do this through New tab Experience, e -mail news message, and more. The new TAB experience features shortcuts for your most visited sites, recently visited pages, and your reference signs.

As for Fakespot, Mozilla says it closes the service because “while the idea was an echo, it does not fit a model that we can preserve.”

Although it is unclear the number of users who have a pocket, the service has managed to develop the base of loyal users over the years. Users moved to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the news.

“This shift allows us to form the next era from the Internet-with tools such as vertical tabs, smart research and more features on behalf of the road,” says Mozilla. “We will continue to build a browser that works harder than you: more personal and more powerful and is still proudly independent.”
