The mayor of the city of Mexico Clara Brugada pledged to continue the “unimaginable fighting against insecurity.”
Two major assistants of the mayor of Mexico were shot in the last attack against public employees in the Latin American country.
The city authorities said that the private secretary, Shimina Joseman and Chancellor Jose Monoz, died on Tuesday in an early ambush in the central neighborhood in the talk.
The mayor of Mexico Clara Borujada condemned the killings and pledged to continue “an uncomfortable battle against insecurity.”
“Investigation, clarification and ensuring that there is no escape from punishment is our commitment,” Borujada said during a press conference.
Mexico has one of the highest killings on this planet, due to the violence led by drug gangs, but the capital is known for its relative security compared to the rest of the country.
John Holman of Mexico City said that there were 50 political murders in the country in the first three months of the year, although political killings are relatively rare in the capital.
“The reasons for this are still unknown,” he said. “But there are strong criminal groups in the capital that is fighting for lands and controlling profitable speculators,” said Holman.
“Politicians can object to the road, as elsewhere in the country.”
Mexican President Claudia Shinbom, a Borujada ally, who was previously working as the mayor of the capital, expressed their condolences for the killings and said that her government would ensure “offering justice.”
“We express our solidarity and support for the families of these two people who worked in our movement for a long time,” said Shinbom.
“We know them, and we stand with their families, and we will give them (Bergada) all the support that the city needs from the Mexican government.”
In 2020, the head of security in Mexico City, Omar Garcia Harvoush, survived an ambush by the militants who killed two of his personal guards and pedestrians.
