George Wend, actor who played Norm on Cheers, dies in 76

George Wind, who starred in Normson in the famous comedy series, died at the age of 76.

His family said that the beloved and comedic actor died safely in his sleep at his home early on Tuesday morning.

“George was a wavy family man, a beloved friend and close to all those lucky enough to get to know him. He will be missed forever,” one of the actor said.

Wind played the role of al-Qaeda in all episodes of 275 chants, which lasted from 1982-1993. He got six consecutive nominations from Amy for the distinguished supporter actor in the comedy series.

Norm’s Therm’s Norm served as a well -loved strip, and was one of the few characters that appeared in each episode of chants.

His entrance to the bar was a running gag in the show, starting with the greeting of other beneficiaries, followed by the crowd, screaming in his name.

Wind collected with some actors at the EMMY 75 Awards in 2024, including Ted Danson, Rhea Perlman, Kelsey Grammer and John Ratzenberger.

In addition to the NBC comic play, Wendt appeared in many films like Dreamscape, Forever Young and Gung Ho.

He also appeared as a father of a boy played by Makulay Kulkin in the black or white music video clip Michael Jackson, which was released in 1991.

He was married to his colleague, actor Bernadette Berkit since 1978, and had three children.

He was also actor and comedian Jason Sodikis, who was recently famous for playing the title character in sports comedy Ted Laso.

Ted Danson, the star participating in Wendt’s Cheers, told People Magazine magazine that “he heard that Georgi was no longer with us.”

“I send all my love to Bernadet and the children,” he said. “It will take a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie.”

Cheers Boston, the bar that inspired the successful television program, praised a picture of Norm’s Spot at the Bar on Instagram.

They said: “George was not just an actor – he was a symbol of rest and laughter, and this feeling familiar with walking in a place where everyone knew your name.”

“To George: Thank you for the laughter, memories and legacy you leave. You will always have stools in our bar.”

Actress Melissa Joan Hart was reflected in a few times in which they worked together in the charming teenager.
