CNBC
Elon Musk said on Tuesday that he expected Tesla and Xai to purchase chips from semiconductor giants Nafidia and AMDPerhaps others.
Musk’s Cantificial Intelligence Company, XAI, which now owns the X social media platform, has installed 200,000 graphics processing units in the Colossus facility in Memphis, Tennesse, Timing CNBC CEO of David Faber said on Tuesday. Musk said that XAI was also planning the GPU from the Memphis.
The number of chips that the company has already requested has not been specified and on any date it may be installed.
“A few years ago, I have made a very clear prediction, which is that the restriction of artificial intelligence will be chips,” he said.
Last year, Musk Nvidia was sent to send a large request from the graphics processing units to Xai first, where the line jumped in front of Tesla.
In his car business, Musk said that the Tesla supercomputs in Buffalo, New York, are already used to train Autopilot and Optimus Robotics.
Musk boasted on Tuesday that Colossus from Xai is “the most powerful training group in the world at the present time” with “more than 200,000 training on graphics processing organization”.
City officials praised the choice of Musk for construction in Memphis Transformation The area is in a “high -tech manufacturing center”.
But the local communities there needed the process related to energy and water, specifically the way XAI relied on the turbines that burn natural gas to help operate the super computer.
Turbines emitted from nitrogen oxides that make up smoky fog, and sects to form ozone, which have been associated with increasing the risk of death from respiratory disease.
As CNBC previously I mentionedEnvironmental defenders say Xai has “violated the clean air law” and the requirements of local permits for “the main sources of air pollution” using turbines.
