Britain and Iran summoned each other after three Iranians were accused of spying in the United Kingdom.

Three Iranian men were arrested on May 3 and were brought before the court in London on the charge of spying for the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s Iranian agency in Iran said that the British accusations asked on Sunday made an explanation of what he said was “unjustified” and “political motives”. Then the UK Foreign Ministry responded on Monday by calling the Tehran ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Interior Minister Evit Cooper said the United Kingdom “will not tolerate the increasing threats supported by the state on the soil of the United Kingdom.”

“I can confirm that the Iranian ambassador has been summoned and (Foreign Minister David Lami) is rising with the Iranian Foreign Minister in the strongest conditions that the UK will not accept any threat activity of the Iranian state in the United Kingdom,” she said in Parliament on Monday.

She added that the government will formulate new powers to celebrate to cover the state’s threats.

She said they will create a powerful force than the current National Security Law to allow us to restrict the activity and operations of foreign -backed foreign organizations in the United Kingdom. “

The Foreign Ministry said that the government “is clear that protecting national security remains our top priority and Iran must be responsible for its actions.”

He added, “The summons of (the ambassador) follows the declaration of this weekend, which stated that three Iranian citizens have been accused of engaging in behavior that is likely to help in the foreign intelligence service.”

The alleged spy was performed from August 2024 to February 2025, according to Metropolitan Police.

Police met suspects on the name Mostafa Sepahvand, 39, Farhad Javadi Manesh, 44, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Normi, 55, all of whom live in London.

A fourth man was arrested on May 9 as part of the investigation, but he was released without charge, MET said.

The three men who were accused to the United Kingdom were granted between 2016 and 2022 temporary leave to stay after asylum.

They are allegedly monitored with the aim of locating the journalists associated with Iran, which produces coverage that criticizes the current regime in Iran. It was banned in Iran as a terrorist organization.

Interior Minister Cooper said that the charges against Iranian citizens came alongside a “series of serious issues”, including “the increasing numbers of operations related to Iran on UK soil” and “nearly 50 % in one year” in government threat investigations.

“The Iranian regime poses an unacceptable threat to our local security, which cannot continue.”

Five other Iranian men were also arrested on May 5 in London, Swindon, Stockport, Rothsd and Manchester as part of a separate anti -terrorism.

The police said that four of the men – who were seized on suspicion of preparing a terrorist law – were released from the reservation, although the investigation “is still active and continuous.”

The fifth man was released earlier to an unspecified date in May.
