I have always been told as a child that breakfast is the most important meal. It gives you energy to continue the entire day. Thus, in my family, we used to eat regularly a delicious breakfast.
It was in the past, of course. For weeks now, we haven’t had anything to eat. Personally, I dreamed of a slice of cheese and a warm loaf of bread in thyme and oil.
Instead, I start another day of genocide with a cup of tea and its taste almost tastes “a biscuit fortified before for sale”, which I bought for $ 1.50.
I recently followed the news and started to feel that my desire for something other than the World Food Program (WFP) may be fulfilled soon.
Apparently, the United States is tired of hearing the Palestinians in Gaza saying they are starving. To date, he decided to end hunger, or at least annoying complaints on this topic.
Thus, with the underestimating confidence and pride in its own ingenuity, the United States government announced a new mechanism for serving food to Gaza. It is assumed that the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”, which is an extraordinary name now adds to the vocabulary of our genocide from NGOs and charitable societies, is supposed to restart food distribution by the end of May and the distribution of “300 million meals”. For its part, Israel volunteered to secure the “humanitarian” operation, while preserving its killing activities.
However, the Israeli government, “under the pressure of the United States”, announced that it would allow it “an essential amount of food” in order to prevent “the development of a hunger crisis.” It is said that the appeal will only last a week.
Here in Gaza, where the hunger crisis was already “sophisticated”, we are barely surprised by these ads. We are accustomed to Israel – with foreign support – running and stopping the “Food button” as shown.
For years, we have been kept in a 365 square kilometer prison, where our Israeli prisoners control our food, and we lack it so that we can never go beyond the level of survival. A long time before this genocide, they publicly announced to the world that they were keeping us on a diet, as calories were carefully calculated to ensure that we were not dead, but we just suffer. This was not a passing punishment. It was an official government policy.
Any person led by the basic humanity that dared to challenge the siege from abroad. Even.
Some say that we should have been grateful to allow trucks to enter at all. True, they were. But often, it was not, especially when we were considered, prisoners, offended the behavior.
However, I was finding my neighbor bakery closed because there was no cooking gas, or I would fail to find my favorite cheese because our prostrations decided to be a “two -use” element and I could not enter Gaza.
We were good at cultivating our food, but we could not do much because much of our fertile soil was near the prison fence, and therefore far. We loved hunting, but this was also closely monitored. The adventure outside the beach and you will get fire.
All this calculated siege, was taking place before October 7, 2023.
After that day, the amount of food allowed to Gaza was significantly reduced. In the days after that, I felt the murderers than the Israeli siege in Gaza more clearly than ever, although I have been living under it since my birth. For the first time, I found myself suffering to secure something essential like bread. I remember I was thinking: This will certainly not allow this to continue.
However, we are here, after 19 months, 590 days, the struggle has become worse.
On March 2, Israel banned all foods and other assistance from entering Gaza. The situation has grown since then from bad to worse, leaving nostalgia to the previous stages of the crisis, when the suffering felt more likely.
A few weeks ago, for example, we can still get some tomatoes alongside canned beans that rotten our stomachs. But now, vegetable sellers cannot be found.
The bakeries were also closed, and the flour completely disappeared, which leaves me. Now, finding the unavailable Fava pills is all that I can realize realistically.
I realize that others still have much worse than me. For parents of young children, the struggle to find food is suffering.
Take my barber, for example. When I went to him last two weeks ago, he looked exhausted.
“Can you imagine?
This may seem like a harsh sacrifice, but this has become paternity and motherhood here after 19 months of uncommon Israeli killing. Parents are consumed through fear, not only for the safety of their children, but for the possibility of bombing their children during hunger. This is the nightmare of every family and every tent in Gaza.
In the few hospitals that work hard, the scene of starvation is more horrific. Children and children are like skeletons on hospital beds; Mothers with malnutrition are sitting with them.
It has become normal to see daily pictures of comic Palestinian children. We may face ourselves to find food, but their vision leaves our hearts shattered. We want help. Perhaps the pea can make a difference. But what can the peas do for the infant, who suffers from Marasmus, for a child who looks like a fragile shell of the skin and bones?
Meanwhile, the world sits in silence, and watching Israel prevents aid, delivering bombs, and asking questions in disbelief.
May 7, the Israeli army bombing Al -Wida Street, one of the most crowded in Gaza City. One of the missiles collided with an intersection full of street sellers, a restaurant. At least 33 Palestinians were killed.
Table photos with slices of pizza dictated in the blood of a victim on the Internet appeared. The scene of pizza in Gaza attracted the world’s attention. The bloodbath did not hear. The world request answers: How can you be in a famine when you can order pizza?
Yes, there are sellers and restaurants amid the famine of the genocide. Sellers who sell a kilogram of flour for $ 25 and a bean box for $ 3. A restaurant is served where a smaller and most expensive pizza chip is offered in the world-a piece of quality dough and cheese and the blood of those who blocked it.
For this world, we have to explain the presence of pizza in order to persuade that we deserve food. For this world, the outlines of the United States’ abstract plan to feed us seem reasonable, while tons of life -saving aid in border crossings are already allowed by job relief agencies.
We have seen in Gaza public relations exercises convincing that it is a “humanitarian work” before. Remember the air drops that were killing people more than they were feeding. We remember the pavement of 230 million dollars, which barely received 500 trucks of aid in Gaza from the sea: an achievement that could be accomplished in half a day through the open land crossing.
We are in Gaza hungry, but we are not fools. We know that Israel cannot only starve us and exterminate sexual intercourse because the United States allows this. We know that stopping the genocide is not among Washington’s concerns. We know that we are hostages not only from Israel, but also from the United States.
What is chasing us is not just a famine; It is also the fear of arriving at strangers under the guise of aid, just to start laying colonial foundations. Even if the United States plan is applied, and even if we are allowed to eat before the next Israel bombing, I know that my people will not be broken through the food weapon.
Israel, the United States and the world must understand that we will not trade in lands due to calories. We will liberate our homeland, even on an empty stomach.
